As Fang Mu walked towards the County Office's Demon Slayer Division under the cover of night, he was unaware that a shadowy conspiracy was silently enveloping him.
He left the slums and walked down a dark street.
Fang Mu's gaze was icy as he watched a dark figure hidden in a shadowy corner.
"Your senses are quite sharp!"
A deep voice emanated from the shadow as it slowly emerged from the darkness.
"Master! Waiting here so late at night, do you have something important to tell me?"
Seeing Huihai emerge from the darkness, Fang Mu asked cautiously, his face full of vigilance.
"Your Excellency, there's no need to be nervous! This humble monk just wanted to ask if you've thought of a way to enter the Heaven Prison."
"If not, this humble monk can only use my method to help you."
"Thank you for your kind intentions, Master! I already have a way to enter the Heaven Prison."
"Please be patient for two more days, Master. I will definitely give you a satisfactory answer."
"Oh! In that case, this humble monk was being overly concerned."
"Then I'll trouble Your Excellency to take care of it. This humble monk bids farewell!"
As his voice faded, Huihai flashed and disappeared into the darkness.
Watching Huihai depart, Fang Mu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Without further delay, Fang Mu hurried towards the County Office.
The guards at the County Office were on duty in shifts, with personnel present even at night.
When they saw Fang Mu return late at night, although they were surprised, no one stepped forward to stop him.
Fang Mu greeted a few guards and entered the County Office. As soon as he reached the main hall of the Demon Slayer Division, he encountered Tu Lang, whose face was grim.
"What did you do? Why did Ye Tian suddenly change his mind and unilaterally cancel my engagement with Qi Zhu?"
Tu Lang stared intently at Fang Mu, his eyes filled with killing intent, and questioned him in a deep voice.
The main hall of the Demon Slayer Division was already empty, with only Fang Mu and Tu Lang remaining.
Fang Mu frowned, not expecting to encounter Tu Lang here.
Hearing his questioning, Fang Mu calmly replied, "The Chief Envoy's decision is not something I can influence."
"He probably thinks you're not a good match for Qi Zhu, that you're not worthy of her!"
"Nonsense! Bullshit!"
Tu Lang slammed the table, his face contorted with anger. He almost couldn't resist attacking.
But he quickly suppressed his anger, not daring to make a move, as he was no match for Fang Mu.
"Very well! Fang Mu, you have guts. You just wait, I'll definitely make you regret this."
Watching Tu Lang leave after a furious threat, a glint of killing intent flashed in Fang Mu's eyes.
Keeping Tu Lang around was ultimately a threat, but Tu Lang himself was not to be feared. Only by finding a way to eliminate Tu Shan could the roots of the problem be severed.
Fang Mu headed towards the Mortal Character Prison as he pondered.
Upon entering the Mortal Character Prison, he skillfully made his way to the Seven Stars area.
Reaching the end, he took out a round token from his key ring and inserted it into the mountain wall, then gave it a gentle turn.
With a series of clanking sounds, the mountain wall emitted a muffled rumble.
As two stone doors in the mountain wall moved to the sides on their own, a spacious entrance was revealed.
Fang Mu stepped into the passage of the Earth Prison and skillfully arrived at the special-grade dungeon.
Upon opening the dungeon, Fang Mu was shocked to discover that the Jade Faced Gentleman's corpse was gone, having vanished without a trace.
"Did someone enter?"
"Was it Ye Tian? Or Tu Shan? Or the Chief Envoy of the Demon Slayer Division?"
Fang Mu wondered in surprise. At that moment, he noticed a pool of blood on the floor of the torture rack.
It looked like the blood left behind after the corpse had dissolved.
After a thorough examination of the traces on the ground, Fang Mu found no valuable clues.
In the end, he could only give up. After all, the Jade Faced Gentleman was already dead, and his soul and memories had been devoured by him.
Even if someone else obtained his corpse, it would be of no use.
Leaving the special-grade dungeon, Fang Mu arrived at the end of the Earth Prison.
He took out a token and inserted it into the keyhole in the stone wall, then turned it three times.
The stone wall then let out a booming sound and began to vibrate violently, slowly opening to reveal a straight passage entrance.
There were several layers of bluestone doors. After removing the token, Fang Mu proceeded forward with it.
The token emitted a faint glow, which enveloped the tightly shut bluestone doors.
The stone door would then open on its own, revealing a wide passage.
Fang Mu was visiting the Heaven Prison for the first time and found it somewhat novel.
After entering the Heaven Prison, he realized that it was pretty much the same as the Earth Prison.
The only difference was the prison doors; the doors in the Heaven Prison were exceptionally tall, appearing as gates of light.
Through these gates of light, one could clearly see the demons imprisoned within.
Within this Heaven Prison, only two demons of the Innate Realm were held.
One demon, resembling an old turtle, was on the verge of death.
The other demon was a Tree Demon, which was also Fang Mu's target in the Heaven Prison.
The Tree Demon remained motionless, but it appeared to be still alive, which made Fang Mu breathe a sigh of relief.
If the Tree Demon had died, Fang Mu wasn't sure if he could extract its memories through refinement.
Fang Mu released his clone. He had already notified his clone through their connection when he arrived at the County Office.
After entering the Mortal Character Prison, he had brought the clone into the Demon Refining Mirror's space.
Together with his clone, Fang Mu opened the number seven dungeon and entered the cell where the dying turtle was held.
Without any preamble, upon entering the dungeon, the clone took the Golden Sword that Fang Mu produced, flashed forward, and struck the turtle.
A series of sparks flew, and amidst the clanging sounds, Fang Mu was stunned to see that his clone's Golden Sword, upon striking the turtle's shell, had failed to shatter it.
Fang Mu, refusing to believe it, let out a roar and swung his Zen Staff, smashing it down on the Old Turtle.
A massive booming sound echoed, and cracks appeared on the chains binding the turtle from Fang Mu's assault.
But the Old Turtle was completely unharmed, its shell proving to be incredibly sturdy.
"Young man! Don't let your temper get the better of you! Your strength is too weak; you won't be able to break my old turtle shell."
An ancient voice rang out, startling Fang Mu, who was in the midst of smashing the turtle's shell, nearly causing him to throw out his back.
Stepping back a couple of paces in surprise, Fang Mu watched in shock as the Old Turtle shrank its body and broke free from the chains.
After restoring its shrunken body, he discovered that the Old Turtle had actually stood up on its hind legs.
"Selling my hide! Have I not been diligent enough lately? Why is it that everyone I meet is a freak with no ability to fight back."
Fang Mu slowly retreated, circulating his Vital Energy throughout his body, preparing for a desperate fight at any moment.
"Don't be scared, young man! I'm different from other demons; I voluntarily requested to come here to enjoy my twilight years."
"Unlike those demons who were captured and constantly thinking of escaping, I, the Old Turtle, am different."
Listening to the Old Turtle's explanation, Fang Mu didn't believe a word of it.
He thought to himself, Does he think I'm easily fooled? Either he's got a screw loose for wanting to spend his retirement in a dungeon, or I've got a problem with my hearing.
"Young man! It seems you don't believe me, so I, the Old Turtle, will prove it to you!"
The Old Turtle was clearly intelligent, an old turtle that had become cunning. Seeing Fang Mu's disbelief, it swaggered towards the locked dungeon door.
Fang Mu watched dumbfoundedly as the Old Turtle opened one iron gate after another, then swaggered out through the gate of light, only to return to the dungeon shortly after.
"See? I didn't lie to you, did I!"
Hearing the Old Turtle ask as it approached, Fang Mu finally snapped out of his shock.
He quickly bowed respectfully to the Old Turtle and apologized, "There was a misunderstanding earlier. I hope you can forgive any offense caused, senior."
"It's nothing, nothing! I'm not that petty, old man!"
"However, young man, you do have quite a bit of strength. You managed to smash me awake even while I was in slumber, giving my old body a good pounding."
