Background / History
Qi Zhu was raised by Ye Tian, the Chief Envoy of Qingzhu County. She never met her mother; Ye Tian told her that her mother was gone, but regularly brought Qi Zhu to worship at the Sacrificial God Hall. As she grew older, Qi Zhu noticed her resemblance to the hall's divine statue and began to suspect a connection between her origins and the Sacrificial God. 22 23
Her mother is an elemental spirit and Qi Zhu is consequently a Half-Demon. Ye Tian sealed her cultivation for years out of fear that a rapid breakthrough would activate her Half-Demon bloodline, while searching for a way to resolve the Demonic Energy in her body. Her mixed lineage also means that she may not have a long life. 30 49
Fang Mu's investigation discovers a woman resembling both Qi Zhu and the Sacrificial God's statue lying unconscious in an ice coffin, with roots extending from her body into the ground. He believes this woman is Qi Zhu's mother and the true body of Qingzhu City's Sacrificial God. 30
Appearance
Qi Zhu is a young woman with a delicate appearance. Her likeness closely resembles the beautiful female Sacrificial God depicted in Qingzhu City's Green Bamboo Hall. 23 30
- Often described as beautiful or delicate. 24 26
- Resembles the Green Bamboo Hall's green-robed divine statue by roughly seventy to eighty percent. 23
- Carries a long whip at her waist. 24
Personality
Qi Zhu is impulsive, proud, and quick-tempered. She initially treats Fang Mu with entitlement, searches him without cause, takes his Nether Pearl, and repeatedly lashes out when he ignores or rebuffs her. Her attempts to kick or antagonize him frequently backfire. 5 8 22
Behind this abrasive behavior, she is protective and emotionally vulnerable. She worries about Fang Mu during dangerous missions, guards Fang Jing from hostile men, warns Fang Mu about poisoned food, and seeks his aid when threatened with an unwanted marriage. 16 24 25 47
She can also be reckless: after suspecting Jiang Tao's pastries are poisoned, she eats one herself to test them and is incapacitated. 25 26
Abilities & Skills
Martial Arts
Qi Zhu is a capable Demon Slayer Envoy who can defend herself in combat.
- Uses a long whip effectively; she defeats several attacking thugs in Qingliu Town with successive strikes. 24
- Fought alongside the Demon Slayer Division during the Corpse Cave operation, though she was left vulnerable when the skeletal monster killed the other envoys. 20
- Reached the Fourth-Rank Martial Artist realm after the Demonic Energy suppressing her cultivation was drawn out. 47
Demonic Scripture
Fang Mu teaches Qi Zhu the Demonic Scripture after determining that it is particularly suited to her condition. The technique can refine Demonic Energy for one's own use. 47 48
- Her body continues to produce traces of Demonic Energy even after Fang Mu and Xixi remove the accumulated energy from her dantian. 47
- The scripture is intended to help her manage and refine this Demonic Energy rather than merely suppress it. 47 48

Search for her origins
Using the evidence left from rescuing her in Corpse Cave, Qi Zhu blackmails Fang Mu into investigating her missing mother. She explains her connection to the Sacrificial God Hall, prompting Fang Mu to investigate the divine statue and later the concealed ice-coffin chamber. 22 23 30
Qingliu Town expedition
Qi Zhu insists on accompanying Fang Mu's group to Qingliu Town. She protects Fang Jing from thugs, distrusts Jiang Tao's hospitality, and is poisoned after testing the suspect pastries herself. 24 25 26

Snake-demon crisis

Half-Demon revelation
When Ye Tian attempts to marry her to Tu Lang, Qi Zhu seeks refuge with Fang Mu. He identifies and removes the Demonic Energy suppressing her cultivation, enabling her breakthrough to the Fourth-Rank Martial Artist realm, then teaches her the Demonic Scripture to manage the remaining energy. 47 48
Ye Tian later confirms her Half-Demon lineage to Fang Mu and asks him to help Qi Zhu as a friend. 49
