Suramar City, the top platform of the Central Mage Tower.

Elisande and the mages of the High Council gathered here, likewise making a fate-altering decision.

"The latest news: the Pandaria region has suddenly been shrouded in an impenetrable mist. All demon forces that attacked became lost within it, then simply walked back out of Pandaria on their own. Those Pandaren have completely sealed off their lands."

"In the face of a great enemy, everyone has the right to choose. They chose to flee, but we don't have that option."

Elisande replied calmly.

"Everyone, a massive demon force has already gathered outside Suramar's perimeter. They will soon attack our city. The power of the Well of Eternity has now become a burden. The demons are using fel energy to corrupt that sacred site, and that vile Portal has completely sealed off the Holy Well."

Looking at the silent mages around her, Elisande paused, then continued.

"Lord Dath'Remar has commanded me to take up the duty of defending Suramar. I will not let him down, nor will I let down the Highborne. Therefore, I make this decision here and now: activate the city's Nightwell, sever the connection to the Well of Eternity, seal the entire city. We will fight those damned demons to the death within Suramar!"

The vote was unanimous. The mages of the High Council found this to be the best course of action available. If they maintained the connection to the Well of Eternity, no one could be certain of the consequences.

The Central Core Mage Tower shot a pillar of violet Arcane energy straight into the sky. Simultaneously, the mage towers scattered throughout the city were activated, each condensing dense beams of Arcane energy that shot toward the Central Mage Tower.

All the Arcane beams converged, then rapidly spread outward across the entire city.

A hemispherical shield of Arcane energy enveloped all of Suramar City. The bright sunlight was instantly cut off, and the city's light dimmed to a dusky violet.

All the Highborne immediately sensed the change in themselves. Their energy connection to the Well of Eternity had been forcibly severed. They could no longer draw upon and wield the endless might of the Well of Eternity as they once had.

In the central plaza of Suramar City, a circular pool began to radiate the light of Arcane energy, reconnecting with all the Highborne in the city.

This was the Nightwell, created by converting water from the Well of Eternity—a vastly shrunken, knockoff version of the Well of Eternity.

"Now... our war has only just begun."

Enduring the pain of losing their infinite magic cheat, Elisande said in a low voice.

"Archmage, why... why don't we try to communicate with the God of Magic, Sarodar? The dark evil god of the Capital Eldorei is about to descend. We have our own deity too. We are his devout followers. Shouldn't he respond?"

At this, a great mage from the High Council spoke up, and his words immediately drew agreement and approval from everyone present.

"That's right! Those demons have an evil god, but we have our own god too!"

"Let the Chosen Ones communicate with the God of Magic. His devout followers are now suffering a great calamity, begging for his guidance and salvation!"

Elisande pondered for a moment, then finally nodded.

"Agreed. Since that evil god wants to exterminate us, we will summon our own god to destroy him. Begin preparations immediately. Gather all the Chosen Ones. We will communicate with the god!"

Just as Krasus and Rhonin were desperately rushing toward Suramar, the Highborne also began their preparations to contact the God of Magic.

On the top platform of the Central Mage Tower, all the Chosen Ones gathered together, calling out to the God of Magic, Sarodar, seeking to draw his attention.

Their efforts bore fruit. The violet Arcane shield in the sky was slowly turning gold. Divine power, radiating boundless pressure, temporarily assimilated the Arcane shield above.

Seeing this, the Highborne grew even more excited. As long as it was confirmed to be effective!

The golden Titan's divine power surged and churned, then gradually coalesced into a golden divine eye, identical to the emblem of the Highborne's Eye of Truth.

Suddenly, life appeared in the eye's pupil, replacing its previous dullness and vacancy. It then looked downward, sweeping its gaze across all of Suramar City, which was enveloped by the Arcane shield.

"Since the dawn of the Highborne, this is the first time you have summoned Me without permission. Speak, followers of the Eye of Truth. What reason makes you so bold?"

Well, this was Boss Hu putting on airs. From the moment his will projected into the divine eye, he had detected a massive amount of fel energy.

Sargeras's demon army had arrived in this world.

He hadn't observed Azeroth in a long time. He'd been busy finishing up the final work on the two Old Gods on his own planet.

Now, these two flesh-and-blood creations were no longer his threat, but had instead become excellent assets. His Void origin had successfully usurped their allegiance to their master. These two Old Gods now firmly believed that he, too, was a Void Lord—and the most powerful one at that.

"Your devout followers are being slaughtered by demons. The glory of the Night Elves is crumbling. The dark evil god now plans to cross through the Portal of the Well of Eternity, descend, and destroy our world. The followers of the Eye of Truth beg for your salvation!"

Elisande knelt on the ground, answering quickly and concisely.

This was the method of communicating with the god, summarized by generations of Chosen Ones over countless years.

The God of Magic, Sarodar, liked brevity and clarity. He detested complex, tedious religious rituals. Showy formalities didn't work with Sarodar. He was a pragmatist, demanding only your devotion and loyalty.

"The Highborne's abuse of magic caused all of this. Azshara's stupidity and greed seduced these events into happening..."

Sarodar's voice rumbled, creating echoes and a sense of pressure in the air.

The Highborne dared not speak. They just knelt on the ground, heads bowed, taking their scolding. They were as obedient as could be, their usual haughty, nose-in-the-air attitude long since thrown into the gutters of the Endless Sea.

Sarodar, as a god, was protective of his own. The Highborne knew this. If they made a mistake, at worst they'd get a thorough scolding, maybe get zapped a few times with divine power. In the end, the God of Magic would still lend his little brothers a hand.

"The Dark Titan Sargeras, my former brother, a fallen kin. He is the shame of the Pantheon, a damned traitor. He must fall..."

Oh, that sounded promising. The Divine Lord seemed ready to make a move.

"Very well. I will send down an incarnation of My will. I will lead you, guide you, out of this dark predicament. Prepare to welcome your master..."

Upon hearing this, the Highborne were overjoyed. The great stone in their hearts finally fell.

It's settled, it's all settled!

We have a god on our side now. What's there to worry about? Soldier to soldier, king to king, roach to cockroach... ahem, anyway, victory is within sight!

Oh, and as for Suramar's leadership changing from council discussion to one-man rule, that was no problem at all.

If it were anyone else, the proud Highborne would never accept it. Even Lord Dath'Remar had to go through discussion and approval by the High Council before implementing any major decision.

The Titans are different, of course—others would kill for the chance to be under their direct authoritarian rule, like a municipality under a dictator, but they don't even get that opportunity!

Look at those Dragon Aspects, every day like motherless children, crying and shouting for the Titans' guidance, and Sarodar didn't even give a damn about them either.

What's this? It's called a gap, alright? You can't envy your way into it.

Having successfully convinced themselves, the Highborne, now ecstatic about the impending autocratic rule they were about to accept, set a precedent of their own.
