Background / History

Jinlan Village was founded by starving refugees who discovered Jinlan Ore in the Wasteland. The first Village Chief established the mine trade, while the villagers developed physical strength because they could not cultivate Qi; their ability to mine the dangerous ore eventually became the basis of the village's survival. 14

As Village Chief, he presided over Jinlan Village through disasters that included mine collapses, the loss of Jinlan Mushrooms, and a cannibalistic plague. During this crisis, he urged Cècè—a refugee mother—to flee with her child, only to learn afterward that she had died and become trapped near the village. He later asks Yu Ziqing to free her if possible. 20

When the village faced eventual decline because no new children or residents could arrive, he accepted that remaining in Jinlan Village might no longer be viable. He began preparing for the future, including ordering Er Han to protect Yu Ziqing after his death. 23

Yu Ziqing's proposal to spread Body Refining through the village changes the Village Chief's path. Though already elderly and suffering from declining Blood Essence, he progresses more quickly and steadily than even Er Han, becoming Jinlan Mountain's foremost Body Cultivator. 23 67
