Background

Ying Ru Shi was raised within the Ying royal family under the rule of her aunt, Emperor Ying Le. As Le City County Princess, she initially attempted to improve the Qi Kingdom from within: she proposed using the Relying on Heaven Sword to cultivate capable Bai Bao officers and restore a functioning administration. Ying Le answered this loyalty by branding her beneath the right eye with the sword. 124

Despite her position, Ying Ru Shi showed concern for ordinary people. During her work with the Bai Bao, she trained officers, treated patients, and came to recognize both the soldiers' private hopes and the commoners' perseverance. She concluded that she wanted to help others as much as she could. 220

Ying Le later elevated her to Prince of Lanling and entrusted her with the Shanwen Camp and Bai Bao guards, alongside an extermination decree against eighteen surnames. Ying Ru Shi obeyed orders she found unbearable, witnessing the Evil Ghost Hundred Guards massacre entire households. 259 261
