Background / History

Fornia and Nelly were close during childhood; their mothers were like sisters, and Nelly used to follow Fornia around. After Nelly’s mother died, Fornia’s father prohibited their contact because of aristocratic formalities, leaving them separated for years. Despite this distance, Fornia continued paying attention to Nelly and understood that she was unhappy with Simon and his family 25.

Fornia’s father was a Marshal in the British Kingdom’s Royal Navy. His status initially deterred Simon from acting openly against her, but he was killed while suppressing terrorists, leaving Fornia vulnerable and deeply grieving 25 32.

Appearance

Fornia is notably taller than Nelly, able to rest her chin on Nelly’s forehead while embracing her 31.

Reunion with Nelly

Fornia first intervenes when Simon attempts to take Nelly away, placing herself between them and insisting that Nelly does not wish to go with him. She brings Nelly to her home, where they reconnect after years apart 24 25.

Nelly eventually confides that she hates Simon and his family. Fornia reveals that she already knew of Nelly’s hardship and admits that Nelly is the person she likes most 25.

Elopement Plan

After learning of her father’s death, Fornia proposes that she and Nelly elope. She imagines traveling with Nelly across the world, including rainforests, beaches, Antarctica, and the East; this vision helps Nelly overcome her fear of being trapped by fate and marriage 32.

Fornia arranges their escape by cruise ship with help from a retired naval officer who had served under her father. The date is chosen to coincide with an Ability User assessment, when Simon and Nelly’s guardians are expected to be occupied 41.

Escape from Simon

When Simon discovers them at the pier, Fornia strikes him with a baguette and urges Nelly to run for the ship 42. During the pursuit, Simon shoots Fornia in the left leg. Despite severe pain and blood loss, Fornia tells Nelly to leave her behind so that Nelly can escape 42.

Nelly refuses to abandon her, activates the Gate of Nothingness, kills Simon with his own bullets, and teleports them onto the cruise ship. Fornia loses consciousness from blood loss after they escape 42.

Recovery in Haishi

Nelly obtains emergency treatment for Fornia, then transports her to Haishi for further medical care. Fornia is eventually declared out of immediate danger and remains supportive of Nelly’s spatial ability, caring chiefly whether it harms Nelly 42 45.

While recovering, she accompanies Nelly through Haishi in a wheelchair. The pair later encounter Gu Yan, who helps bring Nelly to the Ability User Bureau for registration rather than treating her as a criminal 48 49.
