Background / History
Yu Xiaogang is Yu Xiaoheng's younger twin brother and Yu Yuanzhen's son. Before the twins' awakening, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan considered him its future: he was praised as a prodigy, physically strong for his age, and expected to awaken the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon with Innate Full Soul Power. Yu Yuanzhen and the clan planned to concentrate their resources on him while leaving Xiaoheng to manage the clan's industries. 3 4 5 13
He looked down on Xiaoheng's commerce, physical training, and book learning, believing bloodline, martial soul, and innate soul power mattered above all else. Xiaoheng outperforming him in a knowledge assessment wounded his pride, especially when Liu Erlong defended Xiaoheng and pushed him away. Yu Xiaogang gave a reluctant apology, then vowed to prove himself at the Spirit Awakening. 1 2 5
His awakening instead produced Luo San Pao, a failed mutation. Unable to accept the result, he demanded repeated testing and publicly lost control; the clan and its guests regarded the display as disgraceful. Xiaoheng's subsequent successful awakening left Yu Xiaogang isolated and eclipsed. 15 19 20
After the awakening, his resentment initially deepened. He opposed Xiaoheng's early Thunder Pool body tempering, predicted his failure, and protested the use of thirty-six Jade Marrow Thunder Stones because three had once been reserved for his own future tempering. Yu Yuanzhen struck him and publicly rebuked his selfishness. 27 28 29
Yu Xiaogang gradually redirected his efforts toward theory, business management, secret cultivation, and martial soul evolution. Discovering that Xiaoheng's Golden Holy Dragon functioned as a Split Body Spirit led him to recognize that Luo San Pao might possess the same potential. He secretly manages Xiaoheng's commercial interests while using rare herbs and whale rubber to pursue evolution, naming his martial soul Luo Buhui. 31 35 62
Appearance
Yu Xiaogang resembles Yu Xiaoheng closely as his twin, though his condition and presentation deteriorate after his failed awakening.
- Initially carries himself with proud, carefully arranged bearing as the clan's favored young master. 3 4
- Following his fall from grace, he is described with unkempt hair, disordered clothing, and visible footprints on his clothes. 27
- During his private research, he has bloodshot eyes, disheveled hair, and wrinkled clothes from long hours amid scrolls and account books. 62
- Often carries Luo San Pao in his arms and tries to conceal both himself and the spirit from public attention. 38
Personality
Yu Xiaogang begins as arrogant, competitive, and deeply reliant on the status promised by his bloodline. He sees Xiaoheng's different path as inferior and interprets his brother's accomplishments as deliberate attempts to compete with or humiliate him. His jealousy is particularly evident around Liu Erlong, whom he wants to choose him over Xiaoheng. 3 5
His failed awakening exposes his inability to accept defeat. He publicly insists the awakening stone must be defective, becomes consumed by the loss of resources and recognition, and lashes out at Xiaoheng's body-tempering effort. 15 27 28 29
Later, he becomes more restrained and determined. Mockery no longer provokes him openly; instead, he studies, manages commerce, trains in secret, and pursues a path based on martial soul theory. This resolve is accompanied by growing ruthlessness: he concludes that surpassing Xiaoheng may require abandoning attachments and taking opportunities without hesitation. 35 62 71 72
Abilities & Skills
Martial Soul Theory
Yu Xiaogang possesses substantial theoretical knowledge of martial souls and body tempering.
- Identifies the limits and risks of early body tempering from sect records. 29
- Deduces that the Golden Holy Dragon is a Split Body Spirit capable of consuming external objects to grow. 31
- Applies the same reasoning to Luo San Pao, seeing its abnormal nature as potential rather than proof of worthlessness. 31 35
- Searches ancient texts for a route to martial soul evolution. 71
Luo San Pao / Luo Buhui
His mutated martial soul is a detachable Split Body Spirit later renamed Luo Buhui.
- Its initial emergence destroys Yu Xiaogang's standing as the clan's anticipated heir. 15 19
- Yu Xiaogang believes it can evolve by absorbing external objects, based on his Split Body Spirit theory. 31
- He prepares violent medicinal herbs for it despite its fearful reaction, seeking evolution by any necessary means. 62
- His desire to feed and evolve it drives his participation in the spirit-hunting expedition. 38
Commerce and Resource Management
After Xiaoheng shifts his focus to cultivation, Yu Xiaogang takes responsibility for the clan's commercial affairs.
- Directs sea-transported goods to be sold in batches, increasing profits by nearly ten percent. 62
- Uses access to commercial channels to intercept rare medicinal herbs for his personal cultivation. 71
- Bribes Soul Hunting Forest guards with goods from Xiaoheng's merchant caravan. 72
Secret Cultivation
Yu Xiaogang pursues rapid, concealed improvement after recognizing the potential of his own path.
- Consumes large quantities of rare herbs, raising his Soul Power from Level 3 to Level 5 in half a month. 71
- Plans to refine excess medicinal energy through fighting low-level Soul Beasts in the Soul Hunting Forest. 71
- Hides his training from Yu Yuanzhen. 63
Relationships
- Yu Xiaoheng — Elder twin brother and principal rival. Yu Xiaogang envies his recognition and resents his achievements, but studies Xiaoheng's persistence and follows his practical approach to resources and cultivation. Xiaoheng later asks Yu Yuanzhen to plan a suitable Spirit Ring for him. 5 27 35 94
- Yu Yuanzhen — Father and Sect Master. He once favored Yu Xiaogang as the clan's future, then becomes bitterly disappointed by his conduct after the failed awakening and Thunder Pool dispute. 3 7 29
- Liu Erlong — Object of Yu Xiaogang's early desire and jealousy. Her loyalty to Xiaoheng, including physically defending him against Yu Xiaogang, intensifies his humiliation. 3 5 19
- Luo San Pao / Luo Buhui — His Split Body Spirit and the focus of his efforts to reclaim strength and status. 31 38 62
- Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan disciples — Once praised him as a prodigy, then ridicule and dismiss him after his awakening failure. He eventually learns to endure their scorn without outward anger. 4 20 35
Story Role / Major Arcs
Favored Heir and Brotherly Rivalry

Thunder Pool Opposition
Bitter over Xiaoheng's rise and the diversion of sect resources, Yu Xiaogang predicts his brother's failure and demands the return of Jade Marrow Thunder Stones promised for his own future use. His behavior earns Yu Yuanzhen's first physical punishment. 27 28 29
Theoretical Path and Secret Training
Yu Xiaogang reframes Luo San Pao as a Split Body Spirit with evolutionary potential. He manages business affairs, researches ancient texts, consumes rare herbs, undertakes secret training, and seeks combat in the Soul Hunting Forest to refine his unstable gains. 31 62 63 71 72
