There was no safe place in the trial rainforest. Magic Beasts could attack at any moment. After hearing Dawn's words, everyone rose to their feet, activated their magic, and watched the darkness warily—only to find nothing there. They angrily turned to Dawn and spoke the last words of their lives: "Dawn, what the hell are you doing?"

Then gray ripples silently spread around them, and they collapsed limply to the ground. Their souls followed the gray waves and gathered in the hand of a black-robed man.

The black-robed man was Peter Om. His flying speed was already close to the limit of the apprentice stage, yet he found that he could only close the distance to the Death Mark very slowly—and sometimes, it even widened. He could not help reflecting on his arrogance and decided that the next time he encountered Adam, he would use formal magic to kill him instantly.

Gray mist began spreading around him. The energy of unknown properties was immensely powerful; anything that appeared near him was corroded into nothingness by it.
