Qin Liu crawled out of the Red Jade, utterly bewildered.
"What just happened?"
Because she had been caught off guard earlier, she had been sucked straight into the Red Jade. But now that Qin Liu was prepared, that suction alone was not enough to pull her in.
Unless Qin Liu gave up resisting.
But the Fierce Ghost seemed to have discovered some amusing new toy.
"Ooh! That's pretty magical."
Qin Liu's playful side flared up, and she let the Red Jade suck her inside.
"Ah~ I'm in!"
Then she sprang right back out.
"I jumped out again!"
Perhaps because she had been sealed inside the haunted house for so long, or perhaps because she had been a female ghost for too long, Qin Liu now had a somewhat childlike air about her.
She darted in and out among the Red Jade pieces. Only after playing to her heart's content did she say with satisfaction,
"What exactly is this thing? It's so fun!"
Unfortunately, Liu Haoyu could not hear what she said.
Unable to get an answer, Qin Liu could only keep looking at Liu Haoyu and say,
"How about giving me one of these?"
Naturally, the sleeping Liu Haoyu could not hear Qin Liu's voice. But she did not care and continued talking to herself.
"If you don't say anything, I'll take that as a yes, okay? I'll give you three seconds."
"Three... two... one. Thank you, kind sir whose name I don't know."
After saying that, Qin Liu dove into the Red Jade.
Lying inside the Red Jade was far more comfortable than floating in the air.
Qin Liu crossed her legs inside the Red Jade and said leisurely,
"Not bad. Feels like soaking in a hot spring. Not bad at all~"
Ghosts naturally did not need sleep.
But Qin Liu had retained the habits she had when she was alive, so she was still able to sleep.
And so, this Fierce Ghost curled up inside the Red Jade Liu Haoyu used to seal ghosts and happily closed her eyes.
When Liu Haoyu woke up, he looked at the sky outside. It was already nine o'clock at night.
He had slept for more than seven hours straight, leaving him full of energy. At the very least, he would not get sleepy tonight.
Liu Haoyu stuffed the three pieces of Red Jade into his pocket, but then he noticed something.
For some reason, one of the Red Jade pieces felt somewhat heavier.
"Strange."
Holding that piece of Red Jade in his hand, Liu Haoyu examined its interior.
"There's nothing there."
Though there was nothing inside, it was obvious that this Red Jade could no longer be used to seal ghosts.
"Could the resentment here be so heavy that it damaged one?"
Liu Haoyu thought about it for a while and felt that possibility was fairly likely.
Fortunately, even if one had broken, he still had two pieces of Red Jade left.
They should be enough to deal with the Fierce Ghost that had harmed Old Wang.
With that thought, Liu Hao walked out of the haunted house.
A black motorcycle sat in the haunted house's courtyard. It was the vehicle Liu Haoyu used when hunting ghosts at night.
After all, not every haunted place had taxis or buses that went there.
And Liu Haoyu did not have the money to buy a car, so he could only use a motorcycle to get around.
After putting on his gear and confirming that he had brought everything, Liu Haoyu gently twisted the throttle.
The powerful motorcycle shot forward and rushed onto the road.
There were hardly any cars on this road at night, and Liu Haoyu's motorcycle traveled along it all alone.
The howling wind swept past his ears, and the nighttime temperature was abnormally low. If Liu Haoyu had not worn several extra layers before coming out, he would surely have been shivering by now.
The road on both sides was pitch-black, and because it was far from human habitation, everything around him felt especially eerie.
There were countless low hills on either side of the road, and atop those hills stood grave after grave.
Their shadows looked like a crowd of people on the mountain, staring intently at Liu Haoyu's every move.
No matter where Liu Haoyu drove, they watched him without pause.
Even after he had driven far away, those shadows looked like countless human hands waving goodbye to Liu Haoyu.
Finally, amid that sinister and bizarre atmosphere, Liu Haoyu was nearing the place where the accident had happened last night.
But just then, a woman dressed in burial clothes darted out from somewhere.
The woman rushed to the roadside and waved at Liu Haoyu.
Even Liu Haoyu had not expected something unclean to suddenly leap out like that, but he did not hit the brakes.
He knew that in such a desolate wilderness, how could a living person possibly appear?
Old Wang had most likely mistaken that Fierce Ghost for a passenger trying to catch a ride last night, so he stopped and let the ghost into the car.
The result was a tragedy.
So Liu Haoyu chose to ignore her. He twisted the throttle tighter and sped past the woman in white.
But not long after Liu Haoyu passed her, he suddenly felt his motorcycle slow down slightly.
The load on the bike had become heavier.
Cold sweat poured down Liu Haoyu's back, and every hair on his body stood on end.
That meant...
Something had gotten onto the back of his motorcycle.
Liu Haoyu pulled out his Talisman Papers, then abruptly turned around.
Sure enough, the White-clothed Female Ghost who should have been waving at Liu Haoyu by the roadside had now appeared behind him.
The distance between man and ghost was less than thirty centimeters.
From so close, Liu Haoyu could even see the face beneath her tangled hair, covered in rotten sores and maggots. Her eyes were wide open, and the eyeball in her left eye was gradually slipping from its socket, connected only by a thin strand of flesh and blood.
The female ghost slowly reached out her hand, trying to grab Liu Haoyu's face, as if she wanted to gouge out his eyes as well.
Faced with that horrifying sight, Liu Haoyu's scalp went numb. But he did not panic. Instead, he hurled out the Talisman Papers he had prepared long ago.
"Thunder Shock Talisman!"
"Aah!!!"
Normally, once a Fierce Ghost had set its gaze on someone, that person would be unable to move. So she had never expected Liu Haoyu to have a way to fight back, and she took the full blow head-on.
But if Fierce Ghosts could be killed so easily, so many people would not have died because of them.
So even though Liu Haoyu had caught her off guard, the Fierce Ghost hooked a hand around the motorcycle's tire as she was blasted away.
That abrupt deceleration instantly threw the motorcycle off balance, and it crashed violently toward the ground.
"Fuck?!"
Due to inertia, Liu Haoyu was immediately flung out at seventy kilometers per hour.
Just as he was about to meet a fate of wrecked bike and dead rider, a strange force suddenly pushed against him, completely canceling out his momentum.
Thanks to that strange force, when Liu Haoyu hit the ground, he suffered only a few superficial injuries.
