Houtu is one of the twelve Ancestral Witches born from the essence blood of Pangu 30. Initially, she sought to mediate the conflicts between the Witch and Demon clans to prevent the catastrophic Witch-Demon War 21 52. Upon learning that her clan was destined to be a sacrifice in a future calamity, she sought out Chen Xuan to find a way to alter their fate 77.

She eventually transformed herself into the Six Paths of Samsara, establishing the Underworld and becoming the Lord of the Earthly Dao 144. This act allowed her to exist independently of the Heavenly Dao, defying Hongjun’s plans to subordinate the Earthly Dao to his own control 144 275.

Appearance

Houtu is described as a peerless, graceful, and magnanimous goddess 20. She is often seen wearing a flowing green robe that highlights her perfect figure 20 22. In her true form, she possesses a human body with a serpent's tail, seven hands behind her back, and two hands in front of her chest holding a soaring serpent 28 144.

Personality

Houtu is characterized by her deep compassion for all beings, particularly the suffering souls of the Primordial World 137 144. Despite her divine status, she is a self-proclaimed "foodie" who developed an intense love for cooked food, specifically barbecue, after meeting Chen Xuan 21 22 32. She is protective of her clan, often acting as a mediator among her siblings, and displays a playful, sometimes reckless side when interacting with Chen Xuan and Nuwa 21 34 77.
