Background / History

Meng Zhao is a transmigrator who was installed in the identity of the real Meng Zhao, sole son of the Meng Family's Second Branch. Because his appearance and build closely resembled the original, he spent years mastering Meng Zhao's habits, accent, family history, relationships, and martial knowledge before the exchange was completed. The real Meng Zhao had spent the previous decade at Great Compassion Temple in the imperial capital. 1

Three days before assuming the identity, Meng Zhao received an empowerment from a middle-aged monk. The process cleansed his marrow, restored his previously depleted body, granted him more than twenty years of internal cultivation, and allowed him to surpass the original Meng Zhao's martial level. 1

His identity remained a dangerous secret even after his rise. Later accounts state that he has no blood relation to the Meng Family, though the army and retainers of the Lingwu Meng Family recognize him as their unquestioned leader. 1451

Meng Zhao initially appeared as an unusually handsome youth of about eighteen, tall and powerfully built, with pale jade-like skin, black hair bound by a silver cord, sword-like brows, and a composed, heroic bearing. 1
