Background / History

Meng Zhao is a transmigrator who was installed in the identity of the real Meng Zhao, sole son of the Meng Family's Second Branch. Because his appearance and build closely resembled the original, he spent years mastering Meng Zhao's habits, accent, family history, relationships, and martial knowledge before the exchange was completed. The real Meng Zhao had spent the previous decade at Great Compassion Temple in the imperial capital. 1

Three days before assuming the identity, Meng Zhao received an empowerment from a middle-aged monk. The process cleansed his marrow, restored his previously depleted body, granted him more than twenty years of internal cultivation, and allowed him to surpass the original Meng Zhao's martial level. 1

His identity remained a dangerous secret even after his rise. Later accounts state that he has no blood relation to the Meng Family, though the army and retainers of the Lingwu Meng Family recognize him as their unquestioned leader. 1451

Appearance

Meng Zhao initially appeared as an unusually handsome youth of about eighteen, tall and powerfully built, with pale jade-like skin, black hair bound by a silver cord, sword-like brows, and a composed, heroic bearing. 1

As his Dragon Body developed, his appearance became more overtly extraordinary.

  • Violet or violet-black dragon eyes that can flash with sharp light. 360 1367
  • Purple hair and purple pupils, accompanied by an innate dignity and domineering presence. 360
  • A body described as possessing dragon-like sinews and bones, furnace-like qi and blood, and exceptional hard-body potential. 441
  • Can transform into a true dragon or maintain a half-human, half-dragon state. 907 1857 2590
  • Undergoes further physical changes after obtaining opportunities in Jianmu Grotto-Heaven. 2120

Personality

Meng Zhao is meticulous, disciplined, and highly adaptive. His preparation to replace the original Meng Zhao extended beyond outward disguise to handwriting, genealogy, history, martial arts, and interpersonal conduct. He can instantly shift from grim private calculation to the warm, gentle manner expected of a refined young noble. 1

He treats trusted subordinates with unusual courtesy and remembers those who offer him goodwill. He values capability, loyalty, and usefulness over background, recruiting martial artists from orthodox, demonic, and unaffiliated factions when doing so serves his larger goals. 109 472

His pursuit of power is tempered by self-awareness. After using the Sky-Illuminating Mirror to force rapid improvement, he acknowledged the mental burden involved and resolved not to become a slave to power. 9

Meng Zhao is also deeply ambitious. He seeks not merely martial supremacy, but influence over armies, territory, and the wider order of the world. His long-term aspirations include controlling Yanzhou, challenging the Beitang Imperial Clan's authority, and pursuing the realm of Gods and Devils without relying solely on his bloodline. 1748 1802 2590
