634. Let Me Give You a Physical Examination

Seeing Byron's condition, Stone picked up the magnifying glass once more.

"Tell me everything you discussed with Gaud, exactly as it happened."

Upon hearing Stone, Byron immediately laid out the whole story: how he had made a name for himself, how Gaud had found him, and how the two of them had plotted together.

Gaud's plan was exactly as Byron had described earlier. It was very simple: use Byron's "summoning of souls" to make words appear on paper through sleight of hand, get Browning's family to sell the villa, and have Gaud buy it at a low price.

What was concerning, however, was that this entire plan had been put together in less than a day.

After all, Browning himself had only been dead for a short while. Counting today, it had been three days at most. Gaud had contacted Byron almost immediately after learning of Browning's death and rushed to Rainstorm Villa. His actions had been so swift that it was almost suspicious, as though he had known in advance that Browning would die at this particular time.

To be honest, in Stone's eyes, Byron was full of suspicious points.

Why had he fallen asleep halfway there? Where had the driver who brought him gone? Why had none of the servants known about him? How had Byron ended up locked inside a wine barrel and placed in the locked underground wine cellar? Why had no one heard him calling for help? Every single point was bizarre.

Rather than believe Byron, Stone would sooner believe that the rain at Rainstorm Villa would stop and the police would arrive.

Yet with the Seeker's Soul's enhancement, Byron's words were not false. He had indeed experienced all those things.
