Xiya is a mage of the Night Country and an Agent affiliated with the Gray Tower. Her magic is based on prayer and contracts with the Magic Net: a caster's prayer reaches the network, which responds by projecting stored knowledge as a spell. The process is described as a “three-way handshake,” and the Magic Net can transcend space and time. 178 179 729

She first accompanies Lu Ban through the Wasteland under the codename Mage. There, she joins the Wasteland Hunters’ camp, surveys dangerous ruins, and fights through underground threats alongside Lu Ban. 177 182 185 192

Xiya is a prolific scholar as well as a field mage. Her research on monster aberrations was compiled into Investigation of Monster Aberrations, which became supplementary reading at Gray Tower Academy. 774
