Originally, he had planned to find the hostile Chosen of the Gods and then simply choose a faction different from theirs. Now that Du Danping's task was to support the academy, he would naturally support it as well.
As for the Chosen of the Gods from the other factions, they served a different purpose for Lu Ban.

After all, people weren't blind. It was impossible for them to see that an option brought them nothing but harm and no benefit, yet still insist on trying it just to hit a wall.

He wasn't worried about himself. Du Danping's mission didn't involve confrontation, so in theory, those hostile Chosen of the Gods wouldn't know he existed. Lu Ban, on the other hand, would clearly be facing them head-on.
