The girl who appeared at the door of Lu Ban's hospital room had black hair, light-colored eyes, and a short-sleeved white shirt like a high school uniform paired with a knee-length plaid skirt, short socks, and sneakers. A cloth bag hung from her shoulder, and she had exactly the same face as Amber.
"What? Is there something on my face?"
The girl noticed Lu Ban's gaze and hurriedly touched her face, then glanced over her skirt and the hem of her shirt. Only after finding nothing wrong did she walk briskly over to Lu Ban's bedside.
"You're already dead."
Lu Ban looked at the vibrant, youthful girl before him and spoke seriously.
"Huh?"
The girl froze, then quickly recovered.
"You're talking about those settings again. Sigh, didn't the doctor say you were doing better?"
She sighed and placed the cloth bag on the nightstand. She took out two apples and a folding fruit knife, then began carefully peeling one.
Her apple-peeling skills, however, couldn't exactly be called excellent. They were a complete mess. One glance was enough to tell that she usually just washed the apples and bit straight into the skin. Lu Ban couldn't bear to watch any longer and reached out to take the fruit knife and apple.
Unexpectedly, this simple movement startled the girl. She hurriedly stood up and pulled the fruit knife behind her. She couldn't even keep hold of the apple, which fell to the floor.
The girl with Amber's face took two steps back. In her eyes, Lu Ban saw fear.
And a trace of regret.
". . .Sorry. I was just worried, worried that you might hurt yourself."
She brought the fruit knife in front of her, bent forward slightly, and took another step toward Lu Ban.
