The Four Great Dharma Seals
So far, Levi has practiced so many Bloodline Breathing Technique and has not experienced any so-called Cultivation Deviation.
If there were any signs of Cultivation Deviation, he would immediately stop practicing. Everything is normal now, which should be a hidden function of the Proficiency Panel.
Levi plans to master all the Rune Seal on this book, "The Spirit Driving Handbook," before giving Manual to a descendant of the Winchester or Constantine Family.
Of the Four Great Seals, the Constantine Family possesses the "Flame Stream Seal" and the "Hell Seal".
The Flame Stream Seal allows a stream of scorching flames to erupt from the palm. The power of this flame stream depends on two factors. One is the concentration of one's bloodline; the denser the bloodline, the stronger the flame. However, the Constantine Family's bloodline has gradually diluted with each generation, resulting in a decline in its power. They attempted to mitigate this through inbreeding until a batch of deformed children were born, at which point the family accepted this unchangeable reality.
Another factor that determines the strength of the flames is the depth of one's cultivation. The higher the level of cultivation, the more "Power of Aether" that can be mobilized between heaven and earth through the Rune Seal, and the stronger the flames will be.
Essentially, Rune Seal are just a stripped-down version of spells.
"Flame Stream Seal" is actually a low-cost version of the First-Circle Spell "Burning Hands".
"Hell Seal" is a lower-powered version of the First-Circle Spell "Summon Undead." The latter can directly summon powerful undead from Other Plane to serve one's own purposes, while the former can only revive corpses on existing bodies for one's own use. These summoned creatures are also known as "Living Dead." Their combat power depends on the strength of the corpse in life, but their strength is definitely lower than in life. However, they are very good as cannon fodder.
The Winchester Family's "Guardian Seal" is a watered-down version of the First-Circle Spell Shield Spell," which can create a Protective Force Field around the body, providing strong resistance to physical attacks and also blocking attacks from creatures like Evil Spirit.
The last one, the "Dragon Might Seal," is the Winchester Family's offensive Rune Seal. It is said that it requires the blood of Dragon-type Creature as Casting Material to be used, whether they are Pure-blooded Dragon, Dragon Spawn, or even Mixed-blooded Dragon; the purer the bloodline, the greater the power. However, the Winchester Family usually uses the blood of Earth Dragon Beast, beasts from the human world that don't even qualify as Mixed-blooded Dragon. To Levi's astonishment, this stuff could actually be used with difficulty.
Based on this, the Winchester Family concluded that the Earth Dragon Beast might be a descendant of some Mixed-blooded Dragon and mortal creatures born a long, long time ago.
Earth Dragon Beast blood itself isn't particularly precious, and its production volume is much greater than that of Ambergris, so Levi isn't worried about not having it.
The Dragon Might Seal is a mental attack that can intimidate the enemy's mind and even directly attack the physical form of illusory creatures like Evil Spirit! It is the Winchester Family's trump card, which is why their family is also known as the "Spirit Banishment Family".
Of the Four Great Families, apart from the Constantine Family, each has its own specialty: Evil Spirit, monsters, Blood Clan. The Constantine Family is more versatile and can get involved in everything.
"Flame Stream, Hell, Guardian, Dragon Might."
"Which one should I learn first?" Levi muttered to himself.
"Forget it, I'll learn them all, and then focus on whichever Casting Material is easier to collect."
Levi immediately began to study the Rune Seal Seal-forming Gesture and techniques of practice.
"It's a pity that there's no Meditation Technique in the Spirit Driving Handbook. If Meditation Technique were, I might be able to try practicing Meditation Technique first and prepare to become a wizard."
Although Levi hasn't become a wizard yet, based on the various intelligence he's gathered and the indirect descriptions in the * Spirit Driving Handbook *, the three cornerstones of wizarding practice are: first, "Meditation Technique," which trains a wizard's mental strength; second, "Power of Aether," the source of a wizard's spellcasting power, while Casting Material are the medium for casting spells—not all spells require Casting Material; and third, "Spell Model," the foundation for mastering spells, acting as the "CPU" processor that transforms Power of Aether into various spells.
However, Levi was already quite satisfied with obtaining the Rune Seal.
He immediately began to study the Seal-forming Gesture of the Four Great Seals.
From initial awkwardness to eventual slight proficiency, Levi gradually came to understand everything.
As time went by, knowledge about the cultivation of the Four Great Seals was constantly imprinted in Levi's mind, and he cultivated diligently, neglecting sleep and meals.
It wasn't until hunger roused him that he realized he had unknowingly been engrossed in the practice of Rune Seal for an entire day.
He opened the Proficiency Panel, and there wasn't a single Rune Seal he had yet mastered.
"It seems that it is not enough. Perhaps, if I want to include it in the Proficiency Panel, I must use the Casting Material to complete a successful spell casting. Otherwise, no matter how proficient I am in hand seals, it will not be a successful spell casting."
Levi muttered to himself as he stood up and stretched. He planned to have his men collect the Casting Material. Of the Four Great Seals, Levi believed he could only collect all the Casting Material for the "Flame Stream Seal," which required: Sulfur Stone Powder, charcoal powder made from Black Dragon Wood, and Bone Ash Powder from Hundred-Year-Old Tomb.
"Gunpowder in a magical otherworld?" Levi found it somewhat amusing. Gunpowder technology had not yet been developed in this world, perhaps because saltpeter had not yet been discovered and refined. For Levi to invent explosives as an essential skill for transmigrators was truly a disgrace to transmigrators.
As for the "Dragon Might Seal," besides the blood of the Earth Dragon Beast, it also requires a substance called "Evil Spirit Dust," which is the powder left behind by Evil Spirit after their deaths. The problem is that Levi has never seen Evil Spirit except for the Water Nymph, and even if he did encounter one, it's questionable whether he could defeat it, making it impossible for him to obtain "Evil Spirit Dust."
"If I can kill Evil Spirit with my bare hands, what would I need your Dragon Might Seal for?" Levi said, both amused and exasperated.
The "Hell Seal" requires the "Undead Core," something that can only be born from undead creatures. Levi Wei had never heard of it before. As for undead creatures, Levi did have an idea: the "Snow Wraith" that appeared in the Eternal Night Kingdom in the Far North. Judging from the descriptions of those Wandering Knight who managed to return by chance, the Snow Wraith were very likely undead creatures.
The "Guardian Seal" that Levi, a fan of the Armor Stacking Style, desires most requires a material called "Radiant Stone." This material, like "Mithril" and "Sun Gold," is a product of Extraterrestrial Meteorite, but it is much rarer than the former two, to the point that Levi has never heard of it.
Without the Casting Material spells, Levi had to temporarily set aside the Rune Seal and continue practicing the Breathing Technique.
Several days later, the materials for the Flame Stream Seal were finally ready, and Levi was finally able to attempt to cast the spell.
