History

Gray Hawk instructor

Cassandra served as the Gray Hawk Mercenary Group's Vice Commander and chief instructor. She primarily trained Warriors, and Gagnor first learned Swordsmanship by observing her greatsword practice. 20

Over the following year, Gagnor became a regular at her training ground. Cassandra recognized his interest in combat, invited him to join the defense of Presto Keep, and continued acting as his swordsmanship instructor. Despite Gagnor's improved strength, he could not move her arm even with both hands. 38

During the journey to Presto, Cassandra led the response to a Wolf Hunt Mercenary Group ambush. She ignited her greatsword and the surrounding forest, negating the attackers' darkvision advantage, then fought their dragonkin leader directly. 42 43

Battle against Rosier

When the Fallen Angel Rosier attacked Presto Fortress, Cassandra protected Sister Deran and confronted him with her flaming greatsword. Although she managed to burn several of Rosier's feathers and force caution from him, his lightning attack disarmed and incapacitated her. 63

Gagnor intervened with a Mithril Magic Breaker Arrow and his curse ability, allowing Cassandra to continue fighting. She later overwhelmed the weakened Rosier physically, repeatedly smashing him into the ground before he escaped. 63 65

After the battle, Cassandra thanked Gagnor and reciprocated his trust by revealing that Phoenix was her fourth Holy Name. 66

Kiso Mountains and Phoenix's altar

Cassandra returned from a solitary journey to the Kiso Mountains after receiving divine guidance from Phoenix. There, she found an ancient altar and fought an Anointed of Nidhogg, whose deity is Phoenix's mortal enemy. 147 148

She gave Gagnor a copy of Pukelt's Mystical Bestiary, warning him that it was forbidden by the Church. Gagnor, in turn, gave her specialties from the Underdark. 148

Betrayal of the *Griffith*

During the Gray Hawk Mercenary Group's treasure voyage aboard the Griffith, Cassandra increasingly sought Gagnor's company after male mercenaries began making inappropriate remarks toward her. 195

Lucius ultimately betrayed the group, using a blood sacrifice ritual to offer the mercenaries to Beherit. As Wraiths closed in, Cassandra revealed her complete Holy Name and instructed Gagnor how to revive her if she died. 198

Empowered by flames, Cassandra tore open the ritual's dark-red barrier with her bare hands while Gagnor defended her from Wraiths. She later smashed through the barrier to create an escape route for him, but Lucius mortally wounded her with a thrown sword. Her burning state was the direct cause of her death. 199 201

Resurrection

Gagnor preserved Cassandra's body in an ice coffin, recovered her Kiso Mountains map, and traveled to Phoenix's altar. Her body began emitting red light that guided him to the hidden site. 202 205

At the altar, Gagnor placed her body within its wooden structure and repeatedly chanted her full Holy Name. The altar erupted in golden-red flame and formed an egg containing Cassandra. 205 207

Cassandra emerged after the ritual was completed and killed the Black Dragon Dragonkin Andrew with a single stomp. The altar itself was consumed as the sacrifice enabling both her resurrection and her dramatic power increase. 208

Afterward, Cassandra told Gagnor she needed to complete Phoenix's Oracle before pursuing revenge against Lucius. She left with the promise that she would find him again afterward. 208
