Background

Shen Yunshi was Binhai University’s renowned campus belle and the Art Department’s most gifted illustrator. Her work was already well regarded enough to receive commissions from the Provincial Audio-Visual Publishing House. Lu Bian was able to introduce her to Wu Wei because his girlfriend, Fang Jin, was Shen Yunshi’s best friend. 13

Relationship with Wu Wei

Shen Yunshi first met Wu Wei through Lu Bian and Fang Jin while Wu Wei was seeking an illustrator for Dance of Ice and Fire. Her first impression shifted rapidly between embarrassment, anger, admiration, and growing attraction as their business relationship developed. 14 17 18 20

She increasingly relied on and worried about Wu Wei, including fearing that the studio’s growth might eventually make her replaceable as lead artist.
