In the half-basement, the vampire Howard said to the other vampires, "The Vampire Transformation Curse is itself the most powerful Blood Curse system of our Blood Curse Court."

"From the lowest-ranked Vampire Servants to Vampire Barons, and then the Vampire Grand Dukes at the very pinnacle, the hierarchy is strict, and advancement follows an order."

"These are advanced Blood Curses personally cast by the Formal Wizards of the Blood Curse Court."

"Most of us did not turn into vampires merely for combat power. We did it to make up for our insufficient wizard talent by becoming vampires."

"But the Blood Curse system on us was previously locked down by the higher-ups of the Blood Curse Court, who sealed away part of its core. Now, they have unlocked some of the Blood Curse's functions within us."

Howard twisted his neck and laughed loudly. "We have been granted a new ability: Blood Devouring. By capturing outstanding White Wizard Apprentices, tearing out their hearts, and drinking their heart's blood, we can obtain part of their Mana."

"As long as we eat enough, the more likely we are to become First-Class Wizard Apprentices. Of course, the White Wizards we consume must have better aptitude than we do for it to work."

"The higher the aptitude of the White Wizard Apprentice we consume, the more Mana we will gain."

"So we must target the geniuses among the White Wizards."

The vampire apprentices' expressions immediately changed. They became intensely fanatical, excited, and thrilled.

With their original aptitude, becoming First-Class Wizard Apprentices would have been completely out of reach. Yet because of this war, they had gained a chance to change their fates.

This Wizard War had already changed the fates of far too many people, and it would change even more in the future.
