When Douglas saw Witch Catherine, his eyes lit up, like someone in desperate straits catching sight of hope.
Witch Catherine said, "I've reviewed your interview records. Unfortunately, your abilities still don't meet Golden Crown Mountain's requirements, so you were imprisoned in Wizard Prison."
"But for the sake of your help to my student, I'm willing to give you a chance. You may atone for your crimes by serving as my teaching assistant at Golden Crown Mountain."
"That way, you can leave the White Wizard Association's Wizard Prison. Are you willing? Do you want my grace, or death?"
Douglas felt that fate had truly toyed with him. Over the past week, he had first gone to the Wizard Court and endured judgment from its Holy Wizards, then been sent to Wizard Prison, a place comparable to purgatory.
He never wanted to return to that terrifying prison without magic. Just when he had nearly believed he would spend the rest of his life behind bars, and the Wizard King within him had shown no reaction whatsoever, leaving him on the verge of despair, Witch Catherine had suddenly sent demon hunters to Wizard Prison to bring him out.
This made Douglas feel even more gratitude and reverence toward Witch Catherine, the powerful Throne Wizard.
Douglas's eyes burned as he bowed to Witch Catherine. "My Lady Throne, perhaps you cannot trust me, but I truly am willing to work for you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you."
