"That was somewhat interesting."
Li Musheng did not press further. Martial arts flourished in this world; perhaps things beyond human power truly existed. It was not impossible.
At this moment, Cang Yinyue gathered her thoughts and said,
"What I need to remind you is that the imperial capital appears to show signs of unrest. The remnants of Great Qi have not shown themselves for so many years, yet the moment they acted, they made such a massive move. It is truly far too abnormal."
"Moreover, your status has yet to be settled, so you must be even more cautious. I always feel that the imperial capital's future is unlikely to be peaceful."
Hearing this, Li Musheng narrowed his eyes slightly. After pondering for a moment, he gave Cang Yinyue a reassuring look.
"All right, Miss Cang, there is no need to worry too much. If the sky falls, the tall ones will hold it up. We should focus on steadily finding the Key to the Heavenly Revelation Secret Treasury."
Li Musheng smiled and waved a hand. Tonight's events had come to an end, and they had gained something at least.
After that, he did not linger. Once he left Cang Yinyue to handle the armored soldier herself, he turned back toward Aurora Pavilion to rest.
Having reached a point where his martial realm could advance no further, Li Musheng no longer needed to cultivate through breathing exercises, nor did he need to study martial arts. He had already entered a state of Return to Simplicity.
Thus, whether in appearance or within, he now looked no different from an ordinary person—provided, of course, that he did not make a move.
The night passed.
In the morning, Cang Yinyue went to report for duty at the Six Fans Gate Headquarters as usual. Unlike before, however, she was pushing a large flatbed cart.
At present, the Imperial Secret Police and a large portion of the Heavenly Brocade Guard were devoting all their efforts to searching for and pursuing that escaped remnant of Great Qi.
Yet unfortunately, that armored soldier had vanished as though he had evaporated from the face of the earth. The Imperial Secret Police had gained nothing so far.
"Catcher Cang, what is going on today? Why are you pushing a flatbed cart to the yamen?"
The guard constables at the entrance were immensely curious when they first saw Cang Yinyue's unusual behavior.
Cang Yinyue did not explain. She merely stopped the cart outside the Imperial Secret Police's gate and said,
"Go inside and notify them. Tell them there is no need to search for that remnant of Great Qi any longer. I have brought him here."
Upon hearing this, the constable on guard froze, seeming to wonder whether he had misheard. His gaze fell upon the cart covered in black cloth before he asked uncertainly,
"Catcher Cang, are you saying that the remnant of Great Qi we have been searching for all this time is lying on top of this?"
Cang Yinyue did not repeat herself. She simply nodded calmly.
"Go report it. While you are at it, call over the registrar who records merits, so I will not have to make another trip later."
Hearing this, the constable at the gate hesitated briefly, but he still said,
"Please wait, Catcher Cang."
Then he hurriedly ran into the yamen. Before long, he arrived outside a small hall. After thinking for a moment, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
"Reporting to Head Constable Fu, I have an urgent matter to report."
The next instant, with a creak, the vermilion wooden door before the constable opened slowly on its own without any wind.
At the same time, a slightly hoarse voice came from within the room.
"Come in and speak."
Only then did the constable step across the threshold. Yet when his gaze swept the room, he discovered that Ji Feiyun and Gong Lishan were there as well.
At once, he hurriedly cupped his hands and bowed to the two head constables before turning to the young man seated behind the desk.
The young man was only around thirty. Sitting upright, his back stood straight as a pine. His nose was high, his thin lips lightly pressed together, and his face was cold and sharp as if carved by a blade.
His ink-black hair was simply tied up, while steadiness and authority rested between his brows. This was Fu Yu, foremost among the Ten Great Catchers of the Six Fans Gate Headquarters.
"Speak. What is it?"
Fu Yu spoke blandly as he looked at the constable before him. Ji Feiyun and Gong Lishan, seated on either side, cast their gazes over as well.
"Head Constable Fu, Catcher Cang asked me to report this matter, but I do not know whether it is true or false."
The constable cupped his hands in salute while cautiously raising his eyes to glance at Fu Yu.
To be honest, he did not believe Cang Yinyue could truly capture a remnant of Great Qi whose strength rivaled that of a Martial Grandmaster. Therefore, he distanced himself from the matter immediately, lest the other party blame him for submitting false intelligence.
After all, everyone in the Imperial Secret Police knew that Cang Yinyue was Head Constable Fu's fiancée. If they made him a scapegoat, he would have nowhere to seek justice.
At this moment, an inscrutable glint flashed through Fu Yu's eyes as he said,
"Whether it is true or false, speak freely."
Hearing this, the constable nodded lightly and proceeded to recount every detail of what had happened at the Imperial Secret Police's gate.
"You are saying Cang Yinyue captured that remnant of Great Qi?"
Ji Feiyun rose from his chair, his face pale as he broke into a violent coughing fit. Clearly, his severe injuries had yet to heal.
"That is what Catcher Cang said." The constable nodded.
"How is that possible? Even Yu Jin, with the strength of a Half-Step Martial Grandmaster, was gravely wounded by that man. Cang Yinyue has not even reached the Grandmaster realm—how could she capture him?"
A sneer surfaced on Ji Feiyun's face. He did not believe it in the slightest.
The constable did not argue. He merely stood where he was, awkwardly silent.
At this moment, Fu Yu fell silent for a moment, then exchanged a glance with the rough-featured Gong Lishan. Gong Lishan nodded slightly and said,
"Though this truly seems unlikely, Catcher Cang is not one to speak recklessly. Perhaps she has mistaken the suspect. Why not go take a look? We should resolve this matter quickly and not let our colleagues make a laughingstock of it. It would harm your reputation."
No expression could be seen on Fu Yu's face. He simply rose from behind the desk and said blandly,
"I will be back shortly. Wait here for me for the moment."
With that, he headed toward the door.
Seeing this, Ji Feiyun did not remain in the room and hurriedly followed after him.
Gong Lishan shook his head. Naturally, there was no reason for him to stay behind alone.
Before long, the three arrived at the Imperial Secret Police's main gate.
By then, quite a few constables had gathered around the area. They all watched Cang Yinyue and the flatbed cart at the entrance, whispering curiously among themselves.
At the sight, Fu Yu's brows drew together slightly, but they soon relaxed again. He passed through the crowd, came forward, and spoke softly.
"Yinyue, I heard you captured a remnant of Great Qi?"
Hearing this, Cang Yinyue, who had been resting with her eyes closed, suddenly opened them. Her gaze met his directly as she said coldly,
"Do you not believe me?"
Fu Yu was precisely the person she had been waiting for.
Everyone in the Imperial Secret Police knew she was the fiancée of the foremost of the Ten Great Catchers, and they all thought she had benefited enormously from this hypocrite before her.
Her abilities had once been limited, but today, she intended to put on a show before everyone and let them know that everything she had achieved had not the slightest thing to do with him.
She utterly disdained acknowledging the marriage arrangement within the Lineage, and she disdained even more being his so-called fiancée.
"Yinyue, you misunderstand. I did not mean that. In truth, mistaking someone for a criminal is the most normal thing in the world."
Fu Yu shook his head lightly, with not the slightest hint of blame visible in his eyes.
