Marshal Tian Peng served the Heavenly Court as the commander of the Hundred Thousand Heavenly River Navy. After learning of the fate awaiting him—harassing Chang'e and being reborn as a Pig Demon—he became determined to change it. During the campaign against Flower-Fruit Mountain, he was more interested in meeting Sun Wukong than genuinely capturing him, and deliberately feigned severe injuries after their clash. 34 37 47

Sun Wukong directed Tian Peng to Wu Feng's General Store, where Tian Peng obtained the Jade Pure Sacred Law and the Nine-Tooth Rake. He later defected from the Heavenly Court, allied with Sun Wukong, and helped Flower-Fruit Mountain build an intelligence network by capturing General Juanlian and sending him back to the Heavenly Court as a mole. 47 142 371

Liaozhai World mission

While protecting humanity in the Liaozhai World, Tian Peng entered a decaying capital ruled in secret by the Centipede Demon Pudu Cihang. He exposed Pudu Cihang's true form before the populace, prevented the demon's poisonous mist from killing the capital's inhabitants by absorbing it himself, and slew the demon with his Nine-Tooth Rake. 472 474 475

Rather than rely on slow reports from mortal officials, Tian Peng ordered the construction of Tian Peng Temples throughout the kingdom. After a failed heavenly sacrifice, he obtained a trace of the Human Dao's rules, allowing him to monitor the entire kingdom and respond to demonic threats more effectively. Gao Village trial and return

Tian Peng endured three years of humiliation in Gao Village while disguised as a Pig Demon, concealing that the hardship was a trial arranged by Wu Feng. At the end of the trial, the Hundred Thousand Heavenly River Navy returned, presented him with a Nine Revolutions Golden Pill, and witnessed his recovery of his original form. 596 598 600
