Background / History

The North Realm was formerly called the Northern Lands. It was part of a larger world before an immensely powerful true dragon arrived grievously wounded, fought pursuing enemies, and shattered the original great world. Four human ancestors subsequently joined forces to seal the broken region and preserve the lives within it. The Demon Emperor Kun was regarded as the original master of the region, while the North Realm Mountain Demon Race inherited his bloodline. 226

The ancestors sealed the North Realm's Spirit Charm to prevent its collapse. Over tens of thousands of years, this left the realm a snowbound wasteland largely devoid of spiritual essence. Humans and demons consequently depended on physical cultivation, bloodlines, and weapons rather than ordinary spiritual cultivation. 166 194

At the heart of the realm stands North Realm Mountain, the center of the enormous Heavenly Dao Imprisoning Dragon formation. Its summit contains the formation core and the Enlightenment Fruit Tree, whose fruit was believed capable of restoring spiritual essence and lifting the North Realm Seal. 166 231 236

During the Heaven's Chosen Competition, Yamata's actions damaged the seal and caused the true dragon beneath North Realm Mountain to open its eye. The prophecy of spiritual revival was nevertheless fulfilled: ice and snow melted, waterways formed, and spiritual essence began returning from Blue Star. The dragon vein was left severely weakened, but it gradually revived under this influx of essence. 252 287

The Heavenly Dao Imprisoning Dragon

The Heavenly Dao Imprisoning Dragon was an immense sealing formation centered on North Realm Mountain. Built from tens of thousands of smaller arrays and multiple systems of ancient inscriptions, it served as the core mechanism maintaining the North Realm's seal. 231

The formation was created by four human grandmasters to contain the greatest calamity of the ancient era. They also arranged inheritances intended to produce successors capable of eventually freeing the realm by obtaining the Enlightenment Fruit. 233

After the true dragon's awakening, the grand formation shattered. Some individual nodes, including teleportation functions, remained active afterward. 287

Heaven's Chosen Competition

Every twenty years, the dispersal of the icy mist around North Realm Mountain opened the path for Heaven's Chosen Ones to compete for the Enlightenment Fruit. Historically, no human or demon was known to have returned from the summit. 166

The competition brought five human and five demon Heaven's Chosen Ones into the realm. Their arrival intensified the long-standing conflict between native humans and demons while turning the Enlightenment Fruit into the decisive prize. 190

Seal Crisis and Spiritual Revival

Yamata exploited the weakened formation core at North Realm Mountain Peak, releasing forces that destabilized the realm's laws and exposed the true dragon beneath the mountain. 242 243

The disaster devastated the realm but ended its long era of spiritual deprivation. Returning spiritual essence began restoring the dragon vein, while the land's snowbound geography transformed through magma, meltwater, and newly formed waterways. 252

Reconstruction and Human Expansion

After the crisis, human forces eliminated demon strongholds around North Realm Mountain and established control over 1,008 strongholds. Basic teleportation arrays linked nearby strongholds, which were distributed among human representatives and tribal powers. 295
