One-Tail was refined by the Nine-Tailed Fox after Jiang Qiu taught her a cultivation method suited to her One-Tail state. Created within a month as a miniature but complete flesh-and-blood being, she possessed an independent consciousness rather than functioning as a mindless duplicate. Her birth doubled the Nine-Tailed Fox's cultivation speed. 443 444

Although One-Tail and the Nine-Tailed Fox share a soul, memories, and sensory perceptions, they can choose not to share everything. One-Tail therefore developed as an individual: she inherited aspects of the main body's nature but regarded her own experiences as distinct. 448 472
