Background

The Dao Sect is among the oldest martial sects in the Divine Martial Realm. It has endured for thousands of years and survived seven great calamities despite several near-breaks in its inheritance. Its traditional cultivation emphasizes nurturing one’s nature and following a continuous Daoist lineage rather than pursuing scattered arts without foundation. 275 278 286

Its headquarters is Qingwei Mountain, whose Thirty-Six Peaks and Seventy-Two Halls form the core of the sect’s territory. The mountain is protected by talismans, formations, and ancient defensive measures, including the Nine Locks Heart Questioning Array. 275 278

Bi Yuan became sect master after producing the phenomenon of Purple Qi Comes From the East Piercing the Heavens. Sixty years later, that event remained legendary in the martial world; Bi Yuan had also defeated the Sword Pavilion’s master on the Sword Debate Platform in fewer than three hundred moves. 275

History

The Dao Sect’s lineage has repeatedly approached extinction but endured through its accumulated texts, formations, disciples, and hidden elders. Its longevity came at a cost: many Supreme Elders survived only by sealing their vitality with artifacts such as Pulse Sealing Chains, Soul Stabilizing Pearls, Life-Extending Silk, and Golden Needles. 278 433

Bi Yuan accepted Xu Yunfan as a disciple while allowing him to retain his prior master, Zhan Yan. This created Xu Yunfan’s dual lineage and formed a connection between the Dao Sect and Heavenly Crafting Cave. 279

When Xu Yunfan sought entry into Sword Burial Abyss, Li Zhi of Dragon Tiger Peak challenged his eligibility under sect rules. Bi Yuan invoked patriarchal precedent, requiring recognition from the Dao Sons of the various peaks; Xu later became the foremost member of the Dao Sect’s younger generation after winning the Thirty-Six Linked Ring Arena. 290 301
