Beneath the dim night sky, Narak hovered in midair!
On the ground, the explosion from Sōkatsui ignited the surrounding trees, and the raging flames continued to burn.
The explosion killed a heap of rogue ninjas who had failed to dodge in time. Those who survived the blast wailed in agony amid the flames!
Standing high above, Narak could even smell the aroma of flesh roasting over the raging fire!
Looking at the people struggling in the flames below, Narak thought, Perhaps being killed by the explosion just now would have been a more merciful death for them.
"Ah... my leg... my leg's broken..."
A rogue ninja whose leg had been blown off clutched his bloody, mangled stump and struggled on the ground, crying for help!
"Puh... I... I don't want to die... someone, save me..."
Another rogue ninja had half his abdomen blown apart, and his organs spilled onto the ground through the huge wound!
He muttered for help toward the people around him. Blood kept spilling from the corners of his mouth, and from time to time he coughed up pieces of his organs!
But the people around him clearly had no time to care whether he lived or died. The light in his eyes grew increasingly dim!
"Someone help put out the fire! Hurry, help me!"
A person engulfed in roaring flames rolled desperately across the ground, trying to extinguish the fire burning on him!
"Everyone, hurry! All Water Release users, use your ninjutsu to put out the fire!"
Just as everyone was thrown into chaos, a voice rang out!
Narak looked toward the source of the voice and saw that it was the rogue ninja leader!
"Oh? He's still alive? What good luck!"
"And he can still remember to have the Water Release users put out the fire at a time like this. Clearly, he has some leadership ability. What a pity..."
Narak shook his head. No matter how talented this man was, Narak would never let him go, since his character was rotten!
The ninjas below finally reacted as well. All the Water Release users began casting their ninjutsu to put out the flames!
Narak did not bother with them. He merely stood in midair and watched coldly!
After all, in his eyes, these people were nothing more than lambs awaiting slaughter.
"Hm? Trying to run?"
Narak had already activated Byakugan while standing in midair, seeing everything below clearly!
Several rogue ninjas had split up and were running in different directions. Clearly, they intended to make it impossible for Narak to pursue them all in time!
"Hmph. Not a bad idea. What a pity!"
"White Lightning!"
Narak did not move. He merely raised one hand and pointed into the air at the fleeing men!
The next moment, several dazzling bolts of lightning descended from the sky and struck them into charred corpses!
The people below had just finished putting out the fires. Seeing those who had been struck to charcoal, they immediately wore even more desperate expressions!
"Damn it... this bastard really intends to wipe us all out..."
"Bastard! We're going to die either way. Everyone, fight him!"
"Exactly! Fight him! At least we can die with some dignity!"
Seeing that Narak had no intention of sparing them and that they could not escape, their remaining ferocity was instead ignited!
"Planning to fight to the death?"
"Now you look a little like ninjas. Since that's the case, I'll let you die as ninjas. At least that'll leave you with some dignity!"
Looking at the people below preparing to fight to the death, Narak roughly counted them. There were still more than twenty. He nodded and rapidly descended!
After landing, Narak directly drew Zanpakuto from his system space!
"All right. I've dragged this out long enough. Let's finish this quickly!"
Narak drew Zanpakuto and pointed it at the group of rogue ninjas!
A moment later, he used Flash Step and appeared directly behind a rogue ninja. Before the man could react, Zanpakuto severed his head!
The head separated from the body, and blood spurted from the neck like a geyser!
The scarlet blood bloomed like a flower of death!
After taking down one, Narak did not hesitate. He charged at the others with his blade!
Already at the end of their strength, the group had no ability to resist. Narak rampaged through them like a tiger among sheep, and the number of rogue ninjas present dwindled rapidly!
Some held kunai, but they were cut in half along with their weapons. Others were preparing to form hand seals and cast ninjutsu, only for Narak to hack through them and their arms, severing them piece by piece!
Even without using Shikai, the toughness and sharpness of Zanpakuto, combined with Narak's speed and strength, turned it into a peerless weapon that cut through anything!
At last, when Narak stood with his blade sheathed, only the rogue ninja leader remained alive!
Everyone else had been cut down by Narak on the spot!
Broken limbs were scattered across the ground!
Earlier, the rogue ninjas had used Water Release to put out the fire, leaving the ground covered in water. Now, the blood flowing from the corpses mixed with the water and dyed the entire clearing scarlet!
On one side stood the estate, reduced to ruins and still burning fiercely. On the other lay a ground covered in corpses and blood. Together, the scene made this place look like an Asura hell!
And Narak was the grim reaper harvesting lives!
The surviving rogue ninja leader was utterly terrified by the sight before him. His pupils contracted violently as he stared at Narak, his entire body trembling uncontrollably!
Narak looked at him and took one step forward!
That single step became the final straw that broke the rogue ninja leader's mental defenses.
As Narak approached, his legs went limp, and he collapsed to the ground!
"Demon... you're a demon..."
He kept muttering under his breath!
"Now, I'll ask, and you'll answer! If your answer satisfies me, I'll give you a quick death. Understood?"
Narak walked up to him with his blade in hand and spoke!
"Demon... a demon..."
Yet faced with Narak's question, he acted as though he had not heard it, merely continuing to mutter those words.
"Tsk... he's been scared out of his wits?"
Narak frowned. This was troublesome!
Narak had kept him alive only to find out whether there were any other strongholds besides this place. If there were, Narak planned to put in a little extra effort and eradicate them all at once!
Although Narak was somewhat lazy normally, he had accepted a commission from the Land of Grass this time. With the customer being god, he intended either not to do the job at all or to do it thoroughly and leave nothing behind!
But he had not expected the rogue ninja leader to be scared out of his mind. From his current state, it was obvious that the man had suffered such a tremendous shock that he had gone insane!
"Swish!"
Narak swung his blade and directly severed one of the man's arms!
"Ugh... ah... my hand..."
Narak's blade had been too fast. The rogue ninja leader initially felt nothing after losing an arm, but moments later, excruciating pain shot through his mind!
The agony of losing an arm finally pulled him back from his dazed state, and he began screaming loudly!
"Back with us now? Then answer my questions!"
Looking at the rogue ninja leader writhing on the ground and howling, Narak's heart remained unmoved as he spoke coldly!
After years of missions, Narak had long since forged an iron heart when facing enemies!
