Background / History

Narak arrived in the shinobi world after dying in a previous life, becoming Hyūga Hiashi’s son. A system granted him check-in rewards, system storage, Soul Reaper abilities, and an Asauchi-state Zanpakutō. At age three, he gained Master-level Gentle Fist and Intermediate Byakugan after beginning Hyūga training, astonishing Hiashi with his talent 2 3.

As a child, Narak fought a Kumogakure ninja attempting to steal a Byakugan. Though initially outmaneuvered by the experienced opponent’s substitutions and clones, he adapted, used the forest and mist to create an opening, and killed the ninja with his Asauchi. He healed his wound with Beginner Kaidō before Hiashi and Konoha ANBU found him 6 7.

Hizashi Hyūga became an important guardian and training companion to Narak and Neji. Hizashi’s death and Neji receiving the Caged Bird Seal left Narak determined to gain enough strength to protect those close to him 8.

He spent eight years attempting to communicate with his silent Zanpakutō. When it finally responded, the system revealed that its original consciousness had perished during remodeling and merged with Narak’s soul. The remodeled blade could permanently copy other Zanpakutō powers through contact, though in the shinobi world he needed check-ins to obtain those abilities 16 17.

Narak named the blade Genmetsu and obtained its first Shikai, Sakashima Yokoso. He later developed into Konoha’s youngest elite jōnin, conducted high-risk missions, opposed Danzō’s Root, confronted Orochimaru, and gained a feared reputation throughout the shinobi world 18 26 39 60 77 93.

After traveling to the Moon, he absorbed Toneri’s chakra and awakened the golden Reincarnation Eyes. His journey through the Spirit World caused a severe time discrepancy: three days for him became two years in the shinobi world 133 159 160.

In the Void Circle, Narak encountered Niru, a former Ten Blades member reduced to a childlike state after protecting her subordinates. Her kindness persuaded him to spare her and her companions. He later became a central authority among the Ten Blades and returned after a two-year absence to reassert control over the Void Night Palace 279 280 370.

Personality

Narak is laid-back, sarcastic, and openly dismissive of authority when he considers it unreasonable. He delayed answering the Hokage’s summons, refused Danzō’s command, and escaped Tsunade’s confinement to investigate the Moon passage 15 18 127.

In battle and on missions, he becomes focused, calculating, and ruthless. He studies opponents’ tricks, exploits openings, and does not hesitate to kill enemies who threaten those he protects 6 7 39 200.

His priorities are intensely personal. He openly states that he values a happy, harmonious family above village ideals or public honor, and seeks power chiefly to protect the people he cares about 8 150. Despite this, he has repeatedly protected civilians, healed allies, guided younger shinobi, and chose to defend Amegakure from Deva Path Pain’s Super-Almighty Push 9 76 166.

Appearance

Narak is typically depicted in white clothing, giving him the appearance of a gentle and modest noble. His Death God Transformation produces a visually identical soul-form clad in black Death Tyrant armor, with a Zanpakutō at his waist 34.

Byakugan and Gentle Fist

Narak is a Hyūga prodigy with exceptional dōjutsu perception and Gentle Fist mastery.

Narak detects a Cloud ninja infiltrator targeting the Hyūga family. His first major battle teaches him the danger posed by experienced shinobi, and he ultimately kills the attacker 4 6 7.

Rise Through Konoha

After undertaking increasingly dangerous missions, Narak becomes a chūnin and later defeats Kakashi and Might Guy during his jōnin assessment. He is recognized as Konoha’s youngest elite jōnin 10 15 22 24 26.

Zanpakutō Awakening and Root Conflict

After eight years of silence from his Zanpakutō, Narak learns its nature, names it Genmetsu, gains Sakashima Yokoso, and refuses Danzō’s attempt to summon him through Root 16 17 18.

Moon Expedition

Narak secretly leaves Konoha, finds the sealed Hyūga passage to the Moon, kills Toneri, and awakens the golden Reincarnation Eyes 127 133.

Spirit World Return and Pain Conflict

Narak returns from the Spirit World to discover that two years passed in the shinobi world. He later battles the Six Paths of Pain, defeats multiple paths, and protects Amegakure from Super-Almighty Push 159 165 166.

Ōtsutsuki Confrontation

When Kinshiki, Momoshiki, and Urashiki arrive early, Narak confronts them alone in the Land of Wind. He kills Kinshiki with a soul-severing slash, reads the others’ memories, and seals Momoshiki and Urashiki in Black Coffin 200.

Void Circle and Ten Blades

Narak enters the Void Circle, spares Niru and her companions, survives a dangerous loss of control caused by the Void Transformation Origin, then returns as the feared authority over the Ten Blades 279 280 306 310 370.
