The roars from the Warp portal grew louder, and in just a few seconds, more Bloodletters and Flesh Hounds poured out.
Even some Forgefiends in the shape of centaurs were mixed in.
Some Chaos Astartes also slowly emerged. The skulls on the tips of the spikes behind their crimson armor.
And the markings of skulls and crossbones on their bodies all revealed their identities.
The traitor legion – the World Eaters.
They roared, "Blood for the Blood God, Skulls for the Skull Throne," then raised their bolters and attacked the surrounding Imperial citizens and Blood Angels.
Some World Eaters wielding Khorne's chainaxes even charged excitedly towards the Astartes positions.
Imperial citizens along the way were cut in half by the weapons they swung. Nourished by blood and blooming with slaughter, these World Eaters, with Butcher's Nails implanted in their heads, instantly became excited and berserk.
Quan Tiehua did not linger to fight. After a brief exchange with a Bloodletter, he feigned defeat and retreated.
This action caused the Bloodletter to roar repeatedly. The Chaos Astartes around them all mocked him as a coward.
But in this situation, only someone with a broken mind would dare to engage; otherwise, they would have already fled.
So many of Khorne's demons, and even Chaos Astartes. These were not even the main concern. The Greater Demon hovering in mid-air was the greatest danger.
It could kill an Astartes with a single slap. If Quan Tiehua didn't run, he would truly be an idiot.
Chapter Master Affos was not foolish. As soon as Quan Tiehua charged, he had already alerted everyone through the Chapter's comms to begin retreating.
The Imperial citizens, upon seeing these demons, immediately began fighting amongst themselves with bloodshot eyes.
Some of the Imperial citizens who had killed more had even begun to grow the demons' iconic horns on their heads.
All the Blood Angels also did not linger to fight, retreating while providing cover for each other.
The main roads of the hive city were wide, but some of the smaller paths were narrow.
And these small paths were dense and intricate. If someone unfamiliar entered them, they would easily get lost in the vast hive city.
"Chapter Master," Quan Tiehua, having exchanged blows with a Bloodletter, was at the rear of the formation. He shouted into the comms.
Everyone understood his meaning.
"Find advantageous terrain." The Chapter Master's reply instantly gave everyone a shot of confidence.
Those still retreating in formation slowly began to spread out. The systems in their combat helmets allowed them to rally to nearby Battle-Brothers within a certain range.
Currently, they couldn't find any advantageous terrain.
And for some reason, most of the demons and Chaos Space Marines were pursuing Quan Tiehua.
Quan Tiehua was agile, weaving and dodging to shake off the pursuing enemies.
However, the Flesh Hounds' sense of smell was incredibly keen. The target of a pursuit order personally given by Khorne was clearer to the Flesh Hounds' noses than chili powder.
Almost every few demons, or rather, Chaos Astartes, had one or more Flesh Hounds searching around them.
And one of the Bloodletters, the one he had first encountered, watched the Flesh Hounds, hunched over in an attacking stance, its eyes fixed on the corner ahead.
For a moment, it grinned mockingly, surprised that an Astartes would use such a clumsy evasion tactic.
With a wave of its hand, the Flesh Hound charged towards the corner like lightning.
It followed closely, its Hellblade already swung.
But as soon as it rounded the corner, its Hellblade swung out, striking the wall with a clang that echoed throughout the entire corridor.
The collision reverberated through the metal corridor, instantly disrupting the hearing of both the Flesh Hound and the Bloodletter.
The Bloodletter looked around in annoyance.
"Coward, weakling."
Bang.
A bolter round accurately struck the Bloodletter's face. Its terrifying power was unleashed, exploding and blasting half of the Bloodletter's face into bloody dust.
The Flesh Hound at its feet immediately barked and charged forward.
The other demons and Chaos Astartes who were searching in different directions instantly looked towards the direction of the recent combat sounds and quickly advanced, following the Flesh Hound.
Hiss~
Quan Tiehua suddenly threw a flashbang smoke grenade. The flash erupted, momentarily disrupting the vision of the Bloodletter and the Flesh Hound.
Only the sound of the Flesh Hound's yelp was heard. Then, there was silence.
Quan Tiehua dropped the Flesh Hound, its neck snapped, and his pace did not slow as he continued to rush towards the Bloodletter whose hearing and vision were disrupted.
As he burst out of the smoke, his plasma pistol, already charged, unleashed several shots, striking the Bloodletter's upper body.
It staggered, its body riddled with holes.
The Bloodletter, as expected of a demon under Khorne, was still full of fighting spirit despite suffering such damage, and its wounds were healing at an incredibly fast rate.
Although two of its senses were impaired, it relied on its innate combat instincts to swing its Hellblade towards Quan Tiehua's head.
His Chainsword roared, instantly blocking the incoming Hellblade. A front kick sent the Bloodletter sprawling.
His plasma pistol quickly followed up, firing several shots at its leg joints, halting its attempt to quickly stand up.
The Chainsword followed closely behind the last plasma shot, arriving with a roar. It cut directly into the Bloodletter's shoulder blade, diagonally severing its head.
Quan Tiehua finished this without a second glance and quickly ran towards the rallying point his Battle-Brothers had already chosen.
But the enemy had already formed a pincer, surging towards him from all directions.
Along the way, he eliminated multiple demons in succession.
Upon reaching a corner, he locked eyes with four World Eaters and two Flesh Hounds.
"Fuck." Quan Tiehua spun around and ran. But as Astartes, their reaction speeds were not slow.
The moment Quan Tiehua turned, dense bolter fire struck his Power Armour's pauldrons and backpack.
The power backpack was instantly damaged, but as a product of the Adeptus Mechanicus, its quality was still up to par.
Even with the damage, it retained its basic functions.
Seeing the system lights in his helmet flicker and most panels instantly go dark, Quan Tiehua felt like cursing. He should have just charged through.
Quan Tiehua ran ahead, the World Eaters chasing behind. With the Flesh Hounds present, Quan Tiehua couldn't shake them off.
Feeling the drag of his Power Armour due to the damaged power backpack, Quan Tiehua drew a Melt Bomb from his waist and threw it into a corner of the pipes. At the same time, various grenades were tossed into different corners along the way.
"Heh heh," Quan Tiehua chuckled sinisterly. Never mind if the move is old-fashioned, just tell me if it works.
