Medical School Anecdotes
That night.
A gathering of people.
This was Adam's first time participating in over a month.
"Well, well, isn't this our busy man? What brings you here today?"
Phoebe saw Adam come in and made a flamboyant joke.
"I've just been too busy."
Adam laughed and said, "Otherwise, I'd rather see you than see anyone else."
"Okay, I accept that reason."
Upon hearing this, Phoebe immediately accepted the flattery with delight.
"Ross!"
When Chandler came home from work, he pushed open the door, saw Ross, and immediately shouted, "You betrayed me!"
"What?"
Ross was taken aback by what he was said, and spread his hands innocently, saying, "When did I betray you?"
"Do I need to remind you?"
Chandler teased him, "Our Brotherhood Pact from college?"
"Uh-huh."
Ross's eyes flickered, avoiding Chandler's glare, and he asked somewhat guiltily, "Which Brotherhood Pact are you talking about?"
Meredith Grey.
Chandler scoffed, "But clearly, you've betrayed us more than just this once."
What are you talking about?
Rachel asked curiously.
Adam then recounted the events.
Rachel and Phoebe both looked at Ross with strange eyes, as if to say, 'You're actually this shape?'
"Sorry."
Seeing that he couldn't hide it any longer, Ross had no choice but to apologize, saying, "I didn't mean to, but you know, I really like Meredith, and she likes me too."
"Have you been drinking?"
Adam hit the nail on the head.
"Certainly."
Ross was taken aback. "How can you not drink at a college party?"
"You guys have been drinking too?"
Adam then looked at Chandler.
Chandler nodded.
"What?"
This time, it was Ross's turn to widen his eyes and point at Chandler: "You and Meredith?"
"That's right!"
Chandler tossed his head, taunting Ross: "I've done it with her many times, in your Science Lab."
"You've gone too far."
Ross was furious. "How dare they do this on my turf!"
Then, the two started arguing.
Adam didn't bother to care who was right or wrong, because he was sure Ross was wrong.
As it turns out.
Adam's guess was not unfounded.
Meredith, whom I haven't met yet, lives up to Juno's assessment of her.
One sip of wine and his pants fell down.
And there are so many parties on campus, and where there are parties, there is drinking.
Tsk tsk.
Adam suddenly lost interest in Meredith's voice actress.
First, there's the messy relationship between Meredith and Chandler, Ross.
Then there's Meredith's messy relationships with everyone...
Adam said, "I can't afford to mess with them, I can't afford to mess with them."
Although so much time had passed that he had forgotten what the female lead, Meredith, looked like, he vaguely remembered a classic scene.
A doctor contracted an unspeakable disease after having an inappropriate relationship with a nurse, resulting in a long line of medical staff in the entire hospital queuing up for testing...
This is absolutely the worst attack ever leveled against doctors and medical staff.
In his previous life, Adam was just watching the show and knew it was an exaggerated plot, but now he was in this American TV Show World and was about to have an interaction with the female lead.
At this point, upon learning that the female protagonist was even more promiscuous than he had imagined, one can imagine the extent of Adam's psychological trauma.
Even if her voice were magnetic and she were as beautiful as an angel, Adam wouldn't be interested.
He doesn't possess any Overbearing Gun Intent, and he even has the Complete Immunity Superpower...
Keep yourself clean, keep yourself clean, keep yourself clean.
I'll say it three times because it's important.
"Adam, what are you thinking about?"
Seeing Adam lost in thought, Rachel asked curiously.
"I know!"
Phoebe exclaimed, "It must be a medical anecdote, right?"
"Hehe."
Adam chuckled dryly, naturally not revealing what he had just thought of, and replied perfunctorily, "Nothing, just a question that came to mind."
Are there many female students in your class?
Monica chimed in.
Are there many pretty female classmates?
Joey pursed her lips, nodded, and smiled.
"There are quite a few."
Adam laughed.
"Studying medicine must be a lot of fun, right?"
Phoebe said regretfully, "If I had the chance, I would also like to be a doctor. Dr. Phoebe Buffet, wow, that sounds amazing!"
"Whether it's fun or not is relative, but it's definitely very tiring."
Adam laughed and said, "I'm doing alright, I still have time to get together with everyone. Many of our classmates are studying so hard that they forget to eat and sleep. One of the girls had so many pimples on her face, which she jokingly called a volcanic eruption, that she didn't have time to deal with them, and she didn't wash her clothes for a month."
Some students even bought a stopwatch specifically for this purpose. Besides studying diligently, they would time everything they did – whether it was drinking coffee or going to the bathroom – without wasting a single second.
"OMG!"
Monica and the others were all stunned. "That's so exaggerated?"
"That's how exaggerated it is."
Adam continued, "You guys love drinking coffee, right? But my classmates often have to stay up late to keep up with the curriculum, and they drink coffee to stay awake. Now, the smell of coffee makes them feel nauseous."
"My God."
Rachel exclaimed, "Thank goodness I didn't study medicine, or my image would be completely ruined."
Although her father was a doctor, he also wanted a child to take over his job. He had talked to her about some things in the medical field before, but those were mostly genuinely interesting stories.
Otherwise, if Leonard were to recount how difficult it was to get through medical school and residency, not only would his pampered daughters not have the courage, but even he himself wouldn't have the courage to go through it again.
So this was the first time Rachel had ever heard of such 'interesting stories' about medical students, and she felt incredibly fortunate.
My face was covered in pimples, I didn't wash my clothes for a month, I used a timer to go to the toilet, and I drank so much coffee that I vomited. It's terrifying to even think about.
"Things will be alright once we get through this, right?"
Monica also said with lingering fear.
"Certainly."
Adam nodded first, then smiled knowingly and said, "But you have to endure four years of medical school plus seven years of residency. Only by getting through this period can you barely be considered to have made it through."
"..."
The group looked at each other in bewilderment.
I had heard Adam talk about how long and arduous medical studies were before, but they didn't have a clear understanding of it. Their impression of doctors was always that they wore white coats and were rich and powerful.
But today, when Adam casually mentioned a few specific examples of hard work, they were immediately stunned and made them glad that they had not chosen to study medicine.
Then, hearing about such days lasting for 11 years is enough to send chills down my spine.
This is truly a road of no return.
No wonder Zhou Shuren said, "If you persuade someone to study medicine, you'll be struck by lightning!"
"Are all female medical students like this?"
Joey couldn't believe it.
No, not exactly.
Adam laughed and said, "I'm talking about the majority; there are always exceptions."
In fact, this once again proves the world's unfriendly attitude towards ordinary people.
In their pursuit of studies, many girls completely disregard their appearance, and there are certainly boys who don't wash their clothes and wear them inside out.
Otherwise, if you don't wash your clothes for a month, where will you get so many clothes to change into?
But Alice and Iliad had no such worries. They dressed up beautifully every day and were at the top of their class, making other girls envious and jealous.
The law that appearance determines everything is being demonstrated to the fullest extent; it's just that unreasonable.
