Who's the Bully?
One week later.
My unwavering morning run time.
Monica was absent.
"Don't go and call her."
Seeing that Adam wanted to call Monica, Chandler waved his hand and said, "She's not in a good mood."
"What's wrong?"
Adam asked curiously, "Wasn't everything fine yesterday?"
"Her credit card bill arrived yesterday."
Chandler explained, "After the payment, she only had $127 left in her account."
"So little?"
Adam suddenly realized.
As the saying goes, "With grain in hand, one has nothing to fear."
In modern society, money is food.
It's perfectly normal to feel upset when you're broke.
Because of the painful realization that Adam had in his previous life, he deeply sympathized with Monica's distress at this moment, who only had 127 knives.
"She has indeed been away from work for a long time."
Adam thought back and realized that two months had passed since Monica impulsively decided she didn't want to be a cook anymore.
United States do have a habit of saving money.
For example, Monica saves 10% of her monthly salary; otherwise, how could she have survived until now?
Of course, most people are like Joey, who have to borrow money to survive if they can't work.
Quitting my job felt great at first, and I've been enjoying that feeling for two months now.
If her savings hadn't run out, Monica would probably still be stuck in a slacker state, thinking, "This job isn't good, that job isn't good either, I'll see how it goes, no rush."
"Yes."
Chandler quipped, "The key issue is that she hasn't figured out what she wants to do yet. She's in a state that's basically the same as when she resigned, or even worse."
"The chef is actually quite good."
Adam pondered for a moment and said, "With her current skill level, given the opportunity, she could become the head chef of a restaurant directly. That would bring in a high income and prestige. The key is that such an opportunity is rare."
He didn't have any good ideas in this regard either.
He frequents upscale restaurants, but the head chef there is doing a good job. He can't very well ask if they need a new head chef, can he?
This kind of job is also one where everyone has their own designated spot.
Monica quit her job on a whim. Unlike Chandler, she loved being a chef, but she quit because she couldn't handle her relationships with her colleagues and boss.
Therefore, Adam did not offer comfort, encouragement, or financial support as he did when Chandler resigned.
Monica has her own brother, parents, and if things really come to that, Ross and his friends will definitely step in.
Furthermore, her current state is simply because she's been staying home for too long and is too lazy to step out of her comfort zone. If she isn't pushed, she'll probably continue to stay home and relax.
Too much help is not actually good for her.
"What's wrong?"
The two ran a lap around Central Park and came back. Because Monica was in a bad mood, she didn't serve breakfast. When they passed by the Central Perk, Adam was about to go in for a coffee and breakfast when he saw Chandler acting suspiciously. He couldn't help but ask him something.
"No, it's nothing."
Chandler peeked inside, breathed a sigh of relief, and followed Adam inside.
"What exactly happened?"
After ordering coffee and food, Adam pressed for more information.
"OK, OK."
Seeing Adam staring at him, Chandler smiled wryly and said, "Ross and I ran into two bullies here. They warned us not to come back, or they'd beat us up every time they saw us."
"Puff!"
Adam almost burst out laughing, "How old are you? You're still afraid of bullies?"
"You make it sound so easy."
Chandler complained, "We've been bullied since we were kids, and we've always had psychological trauma from it! And they were really strong and fierce."
"Yeah?"
Adam laughed and said, "I'd like to see that for myself."
"Never mind."
Chandler shook his head and said, "Joey also said he would help us, but Ross and I don't want to invite you or Joey every time we go for coffee."
"Why did you invite me and Joey?"
Adam said with a smile.
"What if we run into them again if we don't call you?"
Chandler asked, puzzled.
"Oh, silly child."
Adam patted Chandler's head with pity. "You guys are really used to being bullied. Did you think I was just trying to embolden you?"
Isn't that so?
Chandler became increasingly puzzled.
"Of course not."
Adam laughed and said, "Didn't they say they'd beat you up every time they saw you at Central Perk? Well, I'll just make sure they never show up at Central Perk again, and then the problem will be solved."
You mean?
Chandler opened his mouth. "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Let's act like bullies and scare them so they won't dare to show their faces again?"
"I'll be the bully."
Adam teased, "You can't fake it."
Are you sure you can do it?
Chandler said skeptically, "They're quite strong, and there are two of them."
"A man can't say no!"
Adam confidently declared, "I can take on ten of them!"
As the two were leaving.
"Look, look, it's them! He even stole my hat."
Chandler hid behind Adam, pointed at the two white men walking towards them, and whispered.
"Don't worry, watch me."
Adam pulled Chandler to the front, and they faced each other directly.
"Oh, look who's here, aren't these cowards?"
The two men immediately began to arrogantly mock and insult Chandler upon seeing him, clearly old thugs.
"What?"
The two bullies were stunned. They glanced at the 'thin' Adam and were momentarily speechless, because they couldn't imagine that Adam would dare to resist.
"You're asking for it!"
When they finally understood, the two men were furious and were about to fight.
"This is the main street, let's not affect the city's appearance, let's go to the alley over there."
Adam stepped forward, placed his hands on their shoulders, and with a little force, brought them under control, leading the two, who were on the verge of tears, to a deserted narrow alley.
"Hey, you guys are supposed to be bullies, have some backbone, okay? How can you act like sissies and cry like that?"
Adam, with women on his left and right, scolded them.
"Big brother, we were wrong. Please let go. I can't take it anymore."
"Ouch! That hurts!"
Adam's words only made things worse; once he spoke, the two bullies could no longer hold back and actually shed tears.
Bullies don't easily shed tears, it's just that they haven't been hurt enough yet.
"You really know you were wrong?"
Adam eased his grip slightly. "Where did I go wrong?"
"We shouldn't have messed with you! Ah! We shouldn't have messed with your friends!"
Despite the pain, the two bullies were unusually quick-witted. A single gesture was enough for them to know what to do. They looked at Chandler with teary eyes and said, "I'm sorry!"
"It doesn't matter."
Chandler was completely dumbfounded and couldn't accept that the bully had turned into this shape.
"I heard you don't want to see my friends at Central Perk?"
Adam gently reminded him.
"We were wrong. We will never appear at Central Perk again."
The two bullies were very conspicuous.
"You guys wouldn't be secretly causing trouble for my friend while I was away, would you?"
Adam laughed.
"No, no."
The two bullies quickly shook their heads.
They had never encountered a strongman like Adam before. His single-arm strength left them powerless to resist. They only wanted to leave now and dared not play any tricks, nor did they have any intention of seeking revenge later.
I don't think so.
Adam smiled and released them, "Here's what we'll do, give me a business card each, and we can hang out sometime!"
The two thugs, on the verge of tears, pulled out their business cards from their pockets and handed them to Adam, resolving never to come near this area again.
"Hat."
Adam reached out and took back Chandler's hat, then waved and said, "Let's talk again sometime."
The two bullies immediately ran away.
"See? It's that simple."
Adam placed the hat on Chandler's head and smiled.
Chandler: "..."
Who is the real bully?
What's it like to be friends with a bully?
