Guardian
New York.
Duncan Apartment.
Ring ring.
The phone rang.
"Ignore it!"
Octopus Max wouldn't let Adam answer the phone.
"Stop fooling around."
Adam got up with Octopus MAX and picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"It's me, is this a convenient time?"
On the other end of the phone came Juno's voice, her tone different from usual.
"Wait a moment."
Adam had a sudden thought. He peeled the octopus MAX off, reached out and held down MAX, who was pounced on him with a fawning smile, gave her a warning look, and walked out of the bedroom.
In the study.
"Tell me, what's wrong?"
Adam said in a deep voice after locking the door.
Are you still writing that manuscript?
Juno asked.
"It's still there."
Adam felt a chill run down his spine.
"Delete it."
Juno sighed, "Forget it."
"..."
Adam was shocked and remained silent for a moment. "Are you sure?"
"Sure."
Juno gave an affirmative answer.
"Knew."
Adam already knew what was going on, so he didn't say anything. But before hanging up, he couldn't help but call out to her, "Juno!"
"Um?"
Juno was taken aback.
"Be safe."
Adam's many words ultimately boiled down to a single sentence.
"Hehe."
After a moment of silence, Juno hung up the phone with a laugh.
"Hehe."
Sensing the joy in Juno's laughter, Adam couldn't help but smile too, his shock and gloom vanishing instantly.
To have one true friend in life is enough!
Turning on his computer, Adam flipped through the nearly 200,000-word novel "Juno The Gone Girl," and as he looked at the terrifying and Amazing Amy, the emotion that Adam had stirred within him grew even stronger.
This whole thing had nothing to do with Juno, yet she went to such lengths for him!
How fortunate he is!
After deleting the documents from the computer and removing the hard drive, physically destroying it, Adam returned to the bedroom and hugged Max tightly.
MAX originally wanted to move around and drive, but after feeling the strength of Adam's arm and the special emotions emanating from him, he lay motionless in his arms, refraining from making any sarcastic or crude remarks, and Jingjing savoring the warmth of this moment.
Night falls.
"Oh, come on!"
Chandler Adam a club, and upon seeing the dazzling figure, Chandler immediately exclaimed, "Is this what you call donating money to poor people who can't afford college?"
"Yes."
Adam put his arm around him, not letting him leave, and sat down by the stage. "Many of them are students who can't afford tuition. Shouldn't we do some charity work?"
"But what does this have to do with Kathy?"
Chandler said with dissatisfaction.
"Of course they are related."
Adam laughed and said, "Scientific experiments have proven that the average male brain can only store a certain number of indescribable images, but your brain is currently completely occupied by Kathy, which is why you are so impulsive."
What we need to do now is to let your brain store as many new, indescribable images as possible, to dilute or even replace Kathy's. Then you'll realize how ridiculous your previous idea that it had to be her was.
"Will it really work?"
Chandler wondered.
"You don't have to believe me, but you must believe in science!"
Adam said in a serious tone.
"All right."
Chandler also wanted to get rid of Kathy's influence, but seeing this, he could only choose to believe Adam. He looked over there embarrassedly, and then his eyes widened.
The dancers here may not be the most beautiful, but they definitely have great figures and professional, eye-catching dance moves, which is enough for men.
Not to mention Chandler, even Adam found it fascinating.
After watching for a while, Adam glanced at Chandler, who was dumbfounded by the dancer's incredible moves, and chuckled to himself.
These clubs are legitimate and legal in the United States.
Joey, Barney, and Howard are all regulars here.
Even Penny, Bernadette, and Amy have come in.
This includes Monica, of course.
Just watching the performance isn't really anything special.
In How I Met Your Mother, Lily has a doppelganger (who looks exactly like her) who is the dancer in this show. Lily even pays to switch identities with her and goes on stage to dance.
If this can weaken Chandler's obsessive infatuation with Kathy, then it would be a great deal.
Otherwise, Adam had no better options.
Surely we can't persuade Chandler to actually do charity work himself, can we?
No matter how well-crafted or touching the story is, it cannot change its inherently vile nature.
As for introducing him to a girlfriend, judging from his current state, he's not in the mood for it.
Therefore, Adam can only hope that the MAXAM Theory of the great scientist Barney Stinson will actually work, and that it will have some effect so that Chandler can wait until Joey and Kathy break up.
Even though he still disapproved of Chandler and Kathy dating after the breakup, that was enough for Joey.
As long as Joey doesn't mind.
"Give!"
Adam stuffed a pocketful of one-dollar bills into Chandler: "Don't just look, tip me. It's polite and proper!"
Chandler held a pile of banknotes, looking both amused and exasperated, his expression incredibly conflicted.
The dancer had already noticed the commotion and, with a gliding step, had arrived in front of Chandler, performing various dance moves.
Chandler had no choice but to follow the example of the others and slip money to the dancers.
The following weeks.
While helping Chandler fight his inner demons, Adam secretly keeps an eye on the movements of the Amazing Amy.
As he expected, reports on this topic gradually appeared in the newspapers.
Amazing Amy has gone missing.
Her parents only realized they couldn't contact her a week ago and then reported it to the police.
The police had absolutely no leads.
Amazing Amy is so good at disguising herself that she has friends all around her and no enemies.
As a result, it was impossible to identify the suspect, or even determine the last time they disappeared, let alone their motive.
Amazing Amy's parents mobilized public opinion to pressure the police to solve the case, but there are too many unsolved cases like this every year, and after a while, the matter gradually faded away.
Unless new clues emerge, the police's cold case files will simply be another box of files.
With limited police resources, no one would proactively investigate anything again, and no one could have imagined the story behind it.
Amazing Amy doesn't talk about her dark side, and her parents are unaware and don't care. They never imagined that she would harbor ill intentions towards Adam, and then suffer a preemptive blow from Juno and the others.
Juno and her team acted with such skill and timing that it didn't arouse any suspicion because they had absolutely no motive.
Although Adam didn't know the details, he could guess what was going on from the news that Amazing Amy's parents had settled in New York.
Compared to writing a novel to expose Amazing Amy's possible methods of revenge in advance and eliminate the threat as much as possible, this complete disappearance is naturally more advantageous for Adam.
He was even more grateful to Juno.
In the dangerous American TV Show World, having a 'guardian' who is willing to go to such lengths for you is truly a blessing from heaven.
