A Bronze Pretending to Be a King
Medical Center.
The first round of 48-hour shifts entered its first late night.
Bianca's eyes welled up with tears after Adam's caring words. She stared at Adam, and her sleepiness vanished.
Adam chuckled and shook his head in silent refusal.
This is a hospital; there are no secrets here.
He didn't want to leave any evidence against him.
"Hey Adam, guess who almost hit a home run in the duty room just now?"
Bald Chris walked over, arms outstretched, swaying and bouncing.
"Almost? That means it didn't succeed."
Adam joked.
"Well."
Bald Chris's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered and said smugly, "That's because she was called away, otherwise I could definitely have hit a home run. We've only known each other for less than 12 hours, and I've already taken my pants off."
"Who is she?"
Bianca asked curiously.
"Carla, the nurse in the internal medicine department."
Bald Chris quickly said, "She's Spain, a very beautiful woman. At first, I was worried that we were moving too fast and scaring her, but the way she told me to shut up and take off my pants was just too charming."
Upon hearing this, Bianca looked at Adam, her eyes flashing slightly.
"I'm going to check on the patients."
Adam said something and turned to leave.
He studied medicine and worked long hours in the hospital to extend his Lifespan, not to work night shifts. Besides, he doesn't have the superpower of a god descending to earth to eliminate all diseases, so it's best not to get involved in this kind of topic.
"Dude, wait for me."
Before Bald Chris could finish his chat, he chased after Adam, leaving Bianca, whose excitement had worn off and who was starting to feel sleepy.
Nurse station.
"The patient in bed 4-b developed postoperative pneumonia, so we gave him an antibiotic injection."
The arrogant male intern was writing out medical orders. Adam thought that the man might be a strong competitor, so he stopped and listened carefully.
Zhou Shuren said: Be close to your friends, but also get even closer to your enemies.
Are you sure the diagnosis is correct?
The nurse on the other end of the line asked doubtfully.
"I don't know, I'm just an intern."
The arrogant male intern, glancing at the medical record without even looking at the nurse, scoffed, "I have a great idea. Why don't you go to medical school and study for four years, then let me know if your diagnosis is correct?"
"..."
The nurse didn't want to talk anymore.
Although there is a motto in their profession: Doctors are only responsible for diagnosis, nurses are the ones who actually treat patients, nurses are the ones in charge!
But without the glittering Doctor of Medicine from medical school, she really couldn't retort when faced with the mockery of a half-baked intern.
"She has shortness of breath and a fever, which are post-operative complications."
Seeing that the nurse was 'stunned' by his own words, the arrogant male intern confidently said, "Let's begin the antibiotic injection."
The nurse gave him a cold look and left without saying a word.
They are only responsible for performing the procedures; the right to give medical orders belongs to the doctors, but the responsibility also belongs to the doctors.
Who's afraid of who!
"God, I hate nurses."
The arrogant male intern was full of superiority.
"Hehe."
Adam couldn't help but laugh when he saw this.
I thought he was a king, but it turns out he's just a bronze.
"Why are you laughing?"
The arrogant male intern looked over and said unhappily.
"You might hate them even more in the future."
Adam laughed, "Because their advice was right when they didn't spend four years in medical school, but your diagnosis was wrong because you did spend four years in medical school..."
"Impossible."
The arrogant male intern's expression changed.
"What's impossible?"
Adam asked curiously, "The symptoms you just mentioned include diaphragmitis, pulmonary embolism, and other unknown conditions. That nurse was a senior nurse with extensive experience, yet you didn't even examine her before saying she was wrong. Are you really that sure?"
The arrogant male intern's face turned ashen.
If it were any other doctor, he might not have taken it seriously, or even directly mock the other person for being a nurse.
However, Adam's skill had long been recognized for his perfect performance in his first surgery, along with his legendary performances during Adam medical school years and internships at various hospitals.
Even someone as formidable as him, with his arrogance, wouldn't dare say he was stronger than Adam, let alone mock Adam for being a nurse.
If Adam says he is very likely wrong, then the probability of him being wrong is high, but it is absolutely impossible for him to correct himself immediately.
How satisfying it was to mock the nurse just now, how embarrassing it must be to correct yourself in front of her now.
Moreover, just because the probability is relatively high doesn't mean he's definitely wrong. What if his judgment is correct?
Thinking of this, the arrogant male intern walked away with a dark face.
"Well said."
A pretty young nurse looked at Adam with shining eyes.
"Thanks."
The old nurse thanked Adam.
"You're welcome."
Adam laughed and said, "My mother is a nurse too."
After spending some time getting to know the nurses, Adam left the nurses' station.
"Adam, why do you do this?"
Bald Chris couldn't help but say, "We are doctors."
"So?"
Adam gave him a strange look.
"Doctors are in cahoots, and nurses are in cahoots."
Bald Chris said, "That's basic etiquette. Even if Alex is wrong, we should pretend we don't know. How can we say that to the nurses' faces?"
That cool male intern was named Alex, and he was one of the 20 surgical interns in this batch, but he was assigned to a different group.
"Carla, you've come."
Adam smiled and looked behind Bald Chris.
"... You did the right thing. What's wrong with being a nurse? Are nurses inferior to doctors? Impossible! They're both jobs, and no one can be missing. Nurses are an important part of the hospital!"
Bald Chris's tone immediately did a 180-degree turn, and he gave a 'smile': "Carla, I support you..."
Looking back, there was no sign of Nurse Carla.
"You scared me."
Bald Chris caught up with Adam, who had already walked away, and said with dissatisfaction.
Are you scared?
Adam chuckled as he looked at the medical records.
"I... am scared."
Bald Chris was about to say he wasn't afraid, but he still looked around worriedly. He had just hooked up with Nurse Carla, but hadn't even made a move yet. If this inexplicable positioning issue ruined everything, he would be at a huge loss.
"Being afraid is the right thing to do."
Adam patted him on the shoulder. "Don't think you can talk nonsense just because Carla isn't here. There are no secrets in a hospital. Anything you say that's bad for the nurses will reach Carla's ears. Do you think you can hit a home run then?"
In contrast, Adam's words in support of nurses will spread widely and will definitely make most nurses feel good about him.
With Leonard's support above, Sheran's care in the middle, and the nurses' dedicated help below, what does it matter if I offend a bronze-level intern colleague who pretends to be a king but might be dismissed at any time?
