Doctors' Everyday Lives
afternoon.
The Medical Center seemed to be shrouded in an atmosphere of restlessness.
"Great, 14 boxes. Which kind? Hmm, then a little of each kind."
Liz, dressed in a white coat, is on the phone in the hallway, contacting the most important thing for tonight's doctors' party: alcohol!
"I want the kind from local small wineries, and remember to bring some nuts."
Alex sidled up behind Liz and said casually.
"I'm ordering office supplies."
Nobody likes Alex, including Liz.
So the size of this doctors' party has grown from a few people to dozens, and now it has swelled to over a hundred people, including junior interns and nurses from various departments. Even their boss Nazui Dr. Bailey, said he was coming. Liz still has no intention of inviting Alex.
The worst thing about these kinds of parties is having the boss there, because it makes the fun less enjoyable.
But when the news spread throughout the entire hospital, the boss asked, "Am I on the invitation list?"
Besides a definite yes, would you dare say no?
Anyway, Liz and George don't have the guts.
"Oh, of course."
Alex left after saying a few words, unlike his usual shameless behavior.
He's not stupid.
Not long ago, he posted Liz's heartfelt photos all over the hospital, and then Liz fiercely countered him. Liz's heartfelt photos were no longer a joke, but he became a real joke.
So he cleverly began to keep a low profile.
There was no ambiguous smirk, no deliberate provocation of anyone; he began to take a melancholic and mysterious turn.
As for the results?
Just look at Liz.
"From a local small winery, served with some nuts."
Liz quickly said something into the phone.
The extreme anger I felt at the time dissipated with the wind.
emergency room.
"Dr. Duncan, you'll be at the party tonight, right?"
"Well, it depends. If there are no patients, I'll go."
"Very good."
"I want to go too."
Count me in.
At the nurses' station, the nurses were having a lively discussion, and they were all quite excited.
Interns are exhausted, and nurses are not having an easy time either; they are under a lot of pressure and, to some extent, don't have much social life or activities outside of work.
Hospitals are all about making money. In order to maximize the return on investment, they usually hire only one nurse to do the work of two nurses, so that the nurses can't stop working for a moment.
In the event of an unexpected incident, the hospital operates at high intensity and under heavy workload, and nurses have to do everything they can to barely keep going.
But that kind of forced effort is the kind that makes a nurse want to quit after just one job.
With this kind of work situation, it's actually quite difficult to have a normal romantic relationship.
There are very few male nurses.
And among doctors, there are relatively few female doctors.
The two groups are well-matched and complementary in terms of the number of opposite-sex individuals, often work together day and night, and many are in romantic relationships. Their friendships and mutual support are also common, especially in the world of American TV dramas and movies.
Adam stumbled upon this scene more than once.
He was often approached by pretty female nurses who made suggestive or explicit advances, but he always politely declined.
Now it seems they haven't given up. They believe the reason they failed to win him over was because they lacked a crucial tool: alcohol!
Shuren Zhou said: Wine is the matchmaker for lust!
No one from any country understands this better than Westerners.
Beep beep beep!
Just then, the emergency call alert at the nurses' station sounded.
"Okay, Mary, get in the ambulance."
As the head nurse gave the order, she reminded him, "Dr. Duncan, we've received a distress signal."
The ambulance is equipped with emergency rescue equipment such as a defibrillator.
"Notify Dr. Lewis."
Adam reported the incident according to standard procedure, then quickly followed the nurses to the ward where the distress alarm had sounded.
When everyone arrived and pushed open the door, they were immediately dumbfounded.
But Dr. Doug Dr. Ross was shirtless, leaning against the washbasin with one hand on the washbasin and the other on the wall. He had unknowingly pressed the emergency call button on the wall. When he heard the door open, he turned his head back, revealing a distorted and embarrassed face.
"Hi."
"Hi."
Faced with this extremely awkward situation, Adam casually greeted Dr. Ross, then closed the door, completely ignoring the pink figure dressed as an ostrich on the floor.
The head nurse was fine, but Mary, a young nurse in a pink uniform, blushed deeply.
"There'll be a party tonight, you can do whatever you want then, right?"
The head nurse shook her head repeatedly. "So impatient. These young people nowadays!"
Ward area.
"I heard you're having a party tonight, can we come?"
The bedridden patients started to make a fuss.
"Sorry, we are not the organizers."
Adam smiled and politely declined, saying, "Besides, your condition requires rest, and it's not advisable for you to get out of bed."
In order to maximize profits, United States hospitals place great importance on bed turnover rates.
Unless you have a serious illness, they generally won't process your hospitalization.
The hospitalization fees are also extremely high, making it impossible for a normal person to stay in the hospital for an extended period.
Anyone who's hospitalized wants to go to a party?
Dream on.
"Doctors also have a leisure life, who would have thought?"
"Yeah, they're there before I close my eyes at night, and they wake me up again before I even open my eyes in the morning, as if they all live in the hospital. I really thought they were Superman."
"It's almost time, aren't you all eager to leave work and go to the party?"
"Drink less tonight, I have surgery tomorrow."
The patients started complaining, each one more amusing than the last.
Adam smiled.
Doctors have always looked down on patients, literally.
The patient is lying on the hospital bed, and the doctor is standing, so naturally he has to look down at him.
The way they stand also reflects their relationship to some extent.
Patients are forced to look up to doctors who deliver diagnoses that determine their life or death, which puts them at a psychological disadvantage.
Nobody likes this kind of vulnerability.
Now, suddenly seeing the Everyday Adventures in a TV Series of doctors, it's actually quite normal for them to be so cheerful and playful.
7 PM.
A group of doctors and nurses changed into their everyday clothes and left in droves, heading towards Meredith's apartment.
Adam was a little late, having finished processing a patient's discharge paperwork until eight o'clock, before driving over with Bianca.
"You're having a lot of fun."
Before even entering, I could hear upbeat music coming from the apartment. When I opened the door, it was already very crowded, full of people. The most conspicuous thing was a table where a man and two women were drinking and dancing.
On the left is Meredith, on the right is Cristina, and in the middle is George.
A dynamic and powerful character!
"Dr. Duncan."
"Dr. Duncan."
"Dr. Duncan."
Adam's arrival instantly attracted the attention of a group of women, who all greeted him.
Unlike the uniform white coats worn by doctors and the pink uniforms worn by nurses during the work season, these women are dressed in their everyday clothes, each one more flamboyant than the last, vying for attention.
