Observation Operating Room.

"He suffered an acute cardiac tamponade. His chest X-ray this morning was normal. Everything happened so fast. He suddenly fell into a coma. His condition was critical, and I had to perform surgery on him."

Liz, both flustered and angry, explained the situation.

The palpitations were because it was my first time undergoing emergency surgery.

Her anger stemmed from the fact that this was not her responsibility; she had been conscripted into the job and, in her panic and confusion, she almost watched a patient die in her hands.

"Go ahead, I can handle things here."

Dr. Shepherd gestured to Dr. Burke.

Upon hearing this, Dr. Burke immediately went outside.

The heart patient was indeed his patient, and one of his clinic's patients. He had just undergone emergency open-heart surgery by one of his interns, and who knows how bad things might get.

This is related to his reputation.

At that moment, Alex stormed in, demanding of Liz, "You didn't even call me before performing open-heart surgery in the ward? Just to show off how capable you are, huh?"

"I called you 50 times!!!"

"Do you know what I've been through?" Liz said emotionally.

"Oh, the battery is dead. I forgot to change it."

Alex looked at the pager and found it was out of power and shut down, so he couldn't help but laugh.

"You forgot?"

Upon seeing this reason, Liz realized that Alex was still joking around, and she could no longer control her emotions, shouting, "You actually forgot?!"

Growing increasingly agitated, she snatched the pager from Alex's hand, slammed it to the ground, and stomped on it while yelling, "You bastard! You wretched! Lazy! Arrogant! You hateful bastard!"

Spit sprayed all over Alex's face, so much so that Alex had to cover his eyes with his hands.

After giving Liz a good scolding, she turned and left.

She feels disgusted whenever she sees Alex's face.

"The Medical Center is never quiet for a moment."

Dr. Bailey's powerless complaint.

"It seems that Dr. Clive is the one with the strongest background among all of us."

Adam couldn't help but make a sarcastic remark.

How long has this internship lasted?

Alex ignored the nurse's warnings, neglected the patient and worsened her condition, and even made the extremely unethical and despicable remark that "someone as old as her should have died long ago."

Then he messed up his acting again, verbally abusing the patient, saying he deserved it and was disgusting and perverted!

Now he's neglecting his duties again, almost killing the patient.

Furthermore, his professional skills clearly do not meet the requirements for internship at Medical Center.

One thing after another, and yet he showed no remorse whatsoever. How could such a person remain at the Medical Center? Adam would absolutely not believe he didn't have a powerful background.

Even Adam, the protagonist who's practically invincible, wouldn't dare do any of those things.

Dr. Bailey glanced at Adam, instinctively wanting to retort.

Alex is her intern, and she can criticize him, but others can't, especially Adam, who is also an intern with connections.

But considering Adam's strength, and the fact that Adam didn't deny his background and that his words, though crude, were not without merit, she could only swallow her words.

Does Alex have a powerful background?

Of course.

Dr. Bailey vaguely knew that Alex had gotten the job through Dean Glassman's connections.

She also knew that Alex had not yet passed the medical licensing exam; he had failed it. If he failed the retake exam after a while, he would not even be qualified to be a doctor, let alone receive residency training at the Medical Center.

"Damn connections!"

Dr. Bailey cursed inwardly.

She had no connections and relied entirely on her own hard work, spending more than 110 hours a week in the hospital, which is how she earned the respect of everyone.

If she were the hospital director, she would absolutely not allow scum like Alex to enter the hospital.

If she were the Chief of Surgery, after Alex did those extremely bad things, she certainly wouldn't care about the hospital director's feelings and would have fired someone like Alex directly.

If she were the Attending Physician, Alex would absolutely not be allowed to get close to her Operating Room.

Unfortunately, she wasn't one of them.

She was just a resident physician, theoretically the same as Alex, both undergoing resident training. Before completing her training and obtaining her Attending Physician's license, she couldn't afford to offend the hospital director.

So she could only turn a blind eye.

"Shit!"

Just then, an unexpected turn of events occurred. No one was paying attention to Alex's troubles anymore; everyone's attention immediately returned to the surgery, because the patient began to bleed.

"Quickly control the bleeding!"

"Her body cannot withstand such heavy bleeding; she needs blood bags!"

"If I inhale any more, I won't be able to see anything."

"Pulleys! Pulleys! Hurry up!"

Is there still blood in the rapid-response syringe?

"Two bags are waiting to be delivered."

What does "waiting" mean?

"We didn't expect to lose so much blood. We had prepared double the amount of blood, but we've used it all up."

The Operating Room was in complete chaos, with Dr. Shepherd and the nurses talking quickly and urgently.

Where did you cut it?

Dr. Shepherd then asked Dr. Bailey about it.

"Nothing was cut; it broke on its own."

Dr. Bailey quickly explained, "She was in very bad shape when she was admitted to the hospital; the walls of her arteries were too fragile."

"Ten bags of blood have already been used!"

The nurse reminded her.

"I can't see clearly anymore."

Dr. Shepherd was sprayed with blood and his vision was blurred.

"The blood pressure is dropping, and if the bleeding can't be controlled soon, the patient won't make it."

The nurse monitoring the equipment called out a reminder.

"Found it!"

Just then, Adam reached out and pressed on the bleeding point.

"What?"

Dr. Shepherd was somewhat incredulous.

In such a chaotic situation, there was no time to completely aspirate the blood. Finding the bleeding point quickly and accurately amidst the blood was entirely a matter of luck.

"The bleeding is decreasing and the blood pressure has stabilized."

The nurse's reminder confirmed Adam's words.

"Well done, Adam!"

Overjoyed, Dr. Shepherd abandoned his usual distant address to Dr. Duncan and called him by name, "Stay calm!"

Then he shouted at the nurses, "Tell them to bring the blood bags over, immediately! Right now!"

"Suction!"

"Clear my field of vision!"

Dr. Shepherd issued orders rapidly, one after another.

In such a situation, if the surgeon panics or becomes confused, everything is doomed, and the patient is doomed.

If patients remain calm and know what to do, their survival rate will be greatly improved.

The renowned physician, Shepherd, was naturally not in a state of panic. The reason he appeared flustered just now was because he couldn't find the bleeding point.

Without blood bags for transfusion, the bleeding point cannot be located quickly, and even a renowned doctor is powerless to help.

But when Adam miraculously stopped the bleeding, he immediately seized the opportunity.

At that moment, Dr. Shepherd felt a surge of relief that Dr. Burke had chosen Adam to assist in the Operating Room.
