Chapter 643: I'm a plastic surgeon, Not a Stitcher!
Medical Center.
Labor and Delivery.
Despite the doctors' repeated warnings, the pregnant woman had insisted on following her birth plan and delivering naturally. Now, after nearly exhausting herself in a difficult labor, she had ended up back at a C-section.
But there had been no preparation, and time was critical. There was not even enough time for general anesthesia, so they could only use local anesthesia.
Adam fetched the C-section surgical tray as quickly as possible.
"She's starting to convulse!"
"Four milligrams of sedative!"
"All right, I'm starting!"
Dr. Montgomery took the scalpel. Despite the poor surgical conditions, the risk of infecting the patient, and the possibility of severe complications afterward, she directly cut open the pregnant woman's abdomen.
A five-minute countdown hung over everyone's heads.
Adam and the others did not want the child inside her womb to be denied his first breath simply because of his mother's stubbornness.
"Prepare to deliver the baby! He's huge!"
Dr. Montgomery was, after all, a top Neonatology specialist. She safely delivered the baby at the fastest possible speed.
The baby was larger than normal.
"Umbilical clamp!"
Dr. Montgomery held the baby and gave him a breath with a miniature resuscitation bag, but there was no response.
Even after clamping the umbilical cord that connected him to his mother's breathing, nothing changed.
"He's not breathing! Adam, the mother is yours."
Dr. Montgomery's expression changed. She cut the umbilical cord with scissors and called out to Adam.
"Okay."
Adam nodded and calmly took charge of the mother's follow-up surgery.
Dr. Montgomery was more familiar with neonatal emergency care. Carrying the unbreathing baby, she moved aside to resuscitate him.
"Shouldn't I take over?"
Mark Sloan spoke as he stepped forward, intending to take over Adam's work.
