Medical Center.
Emergency room.
The interns stood in a row.
"Grey, you go first!"
Dr. Bailey held a clipboard and tilted her head toward Meredith.
In the middle, a doctor lay on a hospital bed with her face covered, playing the patient.
Meredith stepped forward, quickly examined her, and gave her assessment. "The swelling in her hand is severe, but her distal pulse is stable, so compartment syndrome can be ruled out."
Dr. Bailey looked at her expressionlessly, signaling for her to continue.
"...I think it's a radial fracture."
Meredith could only continue. "Put on a splint first, then send her to orthopedics for follow-up observation. If there are no problems, let her go home."
"Anything else?"
Dr. Bailey asked.
"Anything else?"
Meredith immediately panicked and instinctively looked at Adam.
"Don't look at Duncan!"
Dr. Bailey snapped, then swept her gaze over the interns. "And the rest of you, don't look to Duncan for help later, either. This is an assessment. You must be able to make accurate judgments independently, or what use are you?"
As she said this, her gaze landed on Adam. Her stern expression changed, and she smiled. "Adam, don't help them, either. Helping them now would only hurt them."
"I understand, Dr. Bailey."
Adam smiled and nodded.
"Mm."
Dr. Bailey smiled in satisfaction, then her gaze returned to Meredith, once again expressionless. "Grey, is there anything else you'd like to add?"
Everyone's mouths nearly twitched in unison.
Were you still Dr. Bailey, known as The Nazi?
Where had the old you, who always glared coldly at Adam Duncan, gone?
Wasn't it just a Free Clinic?
Wasn't it just that Adam had helped you secure the funding?
You were a surgeon. Was this really necessary?
None of the interns had expected to see this side of Dr.
