"This... all right, we'll do as you say!"
Thomas and Corey didn't quite understand why Linley was so concerned about information on the Material Plane, but they wisely didn't ask any further questions. They nodded to show their support for his decision.
When the three of them arrived on the first floor of Demon Castle, they were just preparing to head to Blood Peak Castle to sell things and go shopping.
A familiar group of two women and one man approached them from the entrance. It was Mariana, Lisa, and Aaron.
They had immediately hurried over after learning that Linley had returned.
"Stop!"
Aaron shouted furiously, instantly attracting the attention of many people in the first-floor hall.
"What is it?"
Linley stopped and looked at Aaron expressionlessly. He completely ignored Mariana and Lisa, who were glaring angrily at him.
If Red Stone City hadn't had rules established by the Overgod forbidding private fights and killing, Linley wouldn't have bothered wasting a single word on them. He would have killed them outright to eliminate future trouble.
Gritting his teeth, Aaron growled furiously, "Was my father killed by you?"
"Haha!"
Linley laughed mockingly and said, "Do you think the three of us one-star Demons could kill a five-star Demon?"
Thomas and Corey also laughed along.
"This..."
Mariana, Aaron, and Lisa were rendered speechless. After calming down, they also felt it was impossible. However, there was no doubt that Linley had killed their Divine Avatars.
Mariana took a deep breath, her ample chest rising and falling slightly. Gritting her silver teeth, she coldly questioned, "I want to know the details. Who killed Claude?"
Linley chuckled and said, "They suddenly started fighting, and then disappeared without a trace."
He would never admit the truth. A Mid-level God killing several five-star Demons was simply too outrageous.
Mariana instinctively sensed that something was strange, but she also didn't believe that three Mid-level Gods could kill a five-star Demon.
"Let's go."
Linley called out to Thomas and Corey. The three of them pushed past Aaron's obstruction and walked out of Demon Castle.
Mariana and the other two were powerless to stop them and could only return home for the time being.
Thomas sent a voice transmission, asking cautiously, "Linley, should we wait a few days before going to Blood Peak Castle?"
Linley shook his head and replied via voice transmission indifferently, "Trading inside Blood Peak Castle is very safe. We don't need to worry too much."
He knew that possessing a huge fortune would certainly attract attention from several Mid-level Gods, but they couldn't avoid eating for fear of choking. Purchasing resources and rapidly growing stronger was the proper path.
News spread quickly through Demon Castle.
"What? Claude actually died!"
"I just got the news. I heard he suffered complete annihilation."
"They say he was killed by three one-star Demons."
"One-star Demons? You must be joking. That's impossible!"
"It should have been done by some other expert."
In a courtyard in the residential district east of Red Stone City.
Willow branches swayed in the wind, while the cool breeze spiraled around and swept up pebble after pebble.
Beneath the willow sat a young man in a sky-blue robe. His eyes were closed as he sensed the rhythm of the wind between heaven and earth. A pale azure longsword, its hilt shaped like a dragon's mouth biting down on it, rested across his knees.
Faint footsteps sounded.
From the silver-gray moon gate, an old man with snow-white hair slowly walked over. Bending at the waist, he respectfully said, "Lord Roy, I've learned some interesting good news."
Roy opened his eyes, a smile at the corners of his mouth. He said, "Frodo, tell me. What interesting and good news have you heard? I'm rather curious."
"Claude is dead..."
Roy rose in surprise. He swung his longsword excitedly and laughed, "Good riddance! Excellent! Let's see how that woman Mariana can reject me now."
Frodo reminded him, "My lord, don't forget that although Claude is dead, he must have left behind some of his wealth. It should be enough to buy the cheapest house again. If Mariana and her children continue living in the city without leaving, there's nothing we can do."
Roy smiled dismissively and said, "Time will dilute everything. She'll eventually become lonely. First, send people to investigate those three Mid-level Gods and the surviving examinees. Find out exactly how Claude died. That way, our chances of winning Mariana over will be much greater."
As soon as Mariana, Aaron, and Lisa returned home, they discovered that someone had occupied it. They were employees from Blood Peak Castle.
"The owner of this residence has suffered complete annihilation. According to the rules, it must be reclaimed. Pack up your belongings and leave as soon as possible."
Mariana was shocked and panicked. Only then did she remember that when they had bought this house, it had been registered under Claude's name. Now that he was dead, it would naturally be confiscated. This was an established rule in Hell; there was no such thing as inheriting property from a deceased family member.
"What should we do, Mother?"
"Do we still have enough money to buy another house?"
Aaron and Lisa's hearts raced as they asked anxiously. Their entire family now had only their Sanctuary True Bodies left. If they couldn't remain in Red Stone City, they wouldn't be able to survive at all.
Mariana managed to force out a smile and nodded. "Let's go to Blood Peak Castle and buy another house."
The rear entrance of Blood Peak Castle.
Linley, Thomas, and Corey wore their Demon Medals. They didn't need to have their goods inspected on the spot and could directly enter the third floor to sell their items. That was a privilege.
They casually approached a counter staffed by a green-haired female God. Linley waved his hand and took out a large number of godheads, Divine Artifacts, and Blood Crystals. There were even six High-level Godheads and thirteen High-level God Artifacts among them. All of these came from the inheritance left behind by Camilla, the master of Bloodthirsty Castle.
Linley said indifferently, "Sell all of these."
The green-haired female God stared at the items in surprise. She had never expected a Mid-level God to possess such enormous wealth. However, she quickly regained her composure and began assessing their value.
After a while...
"I'll give you a total of ninety-one million three hundred and six Ink Stones!"
The green-haired female God brought out piece after piece of Azure Stone Slab and stone strip, piling them up into a fairly spectacular little mountain. The sight attracted envious and jealous gazes from nearby. A Mid-level God actually possessed such astonishing wealth—it was truly enough to make people green with envy.
"Let's go take a look at some suitable houses."
Linley paid no attention to the gazes of those people. After counting and confirming that everything was correct, he led Thomas and Corey forward through the side passage.
The three of them arrived at the front entrance of Blood Peak Castle. In the housing sales area on the third floor, quite a few people were gathered around, shaking their heads and sighing.
"Sigh, these houses are simply too expensive."
"Even the cheapest one costs five million Ink Stones."
"Heh, you should be satisfied. Red Stone City used to have far more people."
"This friend seems to know quite a lot. Why don't you tell us about it?"
Linley noticed what they were discussing and glanced toward a short but extremely muscular old man. His rough, broad face was flushed red, his beard was unkempt, and his entire body reeked of alcohol.
Linley thought, The Dwarf Race.
The old Dwarf Race man grinned, belched, and boasted with animated gestures, "Red Stone City was once built by the great Blood Ridge Overgod. Back when the Overgods rarely appeared, Hell had far more High-level Gods than it does now. But later, ninety-nine percent of them died within a short period!"
