Hearing the dwarf's words, nearby God-level powerhouses were half-skeptical, their curiosity piqued by him.
A short orange-haired, youthful-looking Mid-level God asked excitedly, "Could it be that those High-level Gods were killed by Overgods?"
Everyone could not help but make dark, inward speculations.
Were Overgods controlling the number of High-level Gods, not wanting newcomers to threaten their status?
The Dwarf Race elder smiled mysteriously, deliberately whetting their appetites by staying silent as he merely shook the empty wine bottle in his hand, his intent self-evident.
For a moment, the onlookers grew somewhat suspicious. Was this fellow simply here to scam free drinks?
Linley noted the Dwarf Race elder's words, a thoughtful look rising in his heart. Perhaps it had something to do with a Sovereign Spark.
Someone smiled, produced a bottle of wine, and patted his chest as he said, "Come taste this stuff. It's as spicy as swallowing a knife down your throat!"
The Dwarf Race elder took a satisfied sip, smacked his lips, and chuckled, "This wine isn't bad. Has some kick to it."
He tilted his head back and chugged half the bottle before finally feeling refreshed. At everyone's urging, he said meaningfully, "Heh, I'll tell you a secret—this Overgod isn't something one becomes through cultivation."
Everyone was greatly shocked.
Yet very soon, someone raised doubts and asked, "You aren't an Overgod yourself, so how do you know?"
Faced with the questioning, the Dwarf Race elder replied with a calm expression, "I'm someone who lived through that era. If my luck had been good, I might have become an Overgod, too."
This statement was astonishing. The God-level beings present all felt a burning heat in their hearts, curious to learn more, but the Dwarf Race elder shook his head repeatedly. No matter how they probed, he refused to say any more, and even giving him finer wine was useless.
The Dwarf Race elder grinned and said, "Haha, I was just spouting nonsense. Don't take it too seriously."
He left swaggeringly, hugging two bottles of wine.
"This fellow just talks nonsense."
"Heh, you can't believe a single word a drunken dwarf says."
"I actually almost believed his ghost stories."
Some of the onlookers cursed, most of them disbelieving.
Nowadays, most God-level beings believed that thoroughly fusing and mastering the elements and rules was what allowed one to become an Overgod. Words like the dwarf's were like daydreaming and wild delusions; if not by cultivation, what else could one rely on?
Linley watched the dwarf's receding back, thinking to himself, This person is definitely a loser from the battle to seize a Sovereign Spark back then, now left with only a weak divine avatar lingering on his last breath.
He had no intention of stepping forward to chat or befriend him.
Doing that was completely meaningless. He should first work hard to cultivate and become a High-level God before talking about any Overgods.
That kind of luck-based matter could only be left to fate, or a slow wait for an opportunity.
Linley had not forgotten that his purpose for coming this time was to look at houses. He patiently began to select, focusing especially on high-end residences since this was, after all, a place for permanent settlement, and various details could not be handled carelessly.
Linley sighed inwardly, To think my first experience buying a house would be in Hell.
Just as he was making his selection, he happened to catch a glimpse of the familiar figures of two women and one man walking over—strikingly, that family of Mariana, Lisa, and Aaron.
Linley muttered inwardly, Talk about running into an old enemy in such a narrow world.
He suddenly thought that their purpose in coming here must also be to buy a house, because Claude was dead, and the real estate under his name had automatically been repossessed by Blood Peak Castle to be put back on the market.
"It's you!"
Aaron was the first to spot Linley and the others. His anger instantly surged, his face taking on a resentful expression as he cursed, "What bad luck."
Linley moved his lips and evaluated, "An absolute idiot. Don't bother us while we're house-hunting."
Such a weakling with only his Sanctuary True Body left still had quite a temper. With no strength to exact revenge, he just kept on shouting endlessly.
"Bastard, what did you say?!"
Aaron glared angrily, luckily held back by his mother and younger sister, or he would have suffered a heavy loss.
Linley suddenly conceived a mischievous idea. He walked up to the counter and asked the staff member in charge of processing procedures, "That Five-star Demon Claude has completely fallen. Is the house he previously lived in back on the market for sale?"
The staff member nodded, directed Linley to the house information, and said, "It's this residence, just put up for sale."
Linley took one look and saw the asking price was sixty million. The location was good, and the scenery and layout were fine as well. Taking all factors into account, this price counted as top-tier housing in the current timeline, and doubling its value in the future would not be a problem.
"I'll take it!"
The more Linley looked at it, the more he liked it, promptly paying the full amount and handling the transfer procedures on the spot.
Mariana frowned, her anger flaring as she said, "Linley, you are going too far! Besides, how could the three of you Mid-level Gods have so much money? Does Claude's death have something to do with you?!"
Linley sneered, putting on an exaggerated expression of mockery as he said, "Oh wow, the three of you Sanctuaries even have money to buy a house. That's what's truly strange."
This retort was extremely well-delivered. Mariana instantly blushed, rendered speechless, and ultimately bought a house in a rather remote location with the cheapest price, hurriedly leaving with Aaron and Lisa. She could not stay here any longer, or she would suffocate from depression.
Thomas sent a voice transmission, his tone mixed with a faint trace of worry. "This woman remains a hidden danger. With her beauty and temperament, she certainly won't lack pursuers."
Linley nodded, transmitting back, "I understand this point as well. For example, that Roy from the Azure Dragon Clan—if she is willing to use herself as a bargaining chip, she really might bring disaster upon us. Therefore, our next moves must be accelerated."
"Can I buy a few more houses?"
Linley's words made the sales clerk pause, then nod with a smile. "Of course. We only recognize money, not people."
Linley nodded, casually choosing three large residences with larger areas and poorer environmental scenery, totaling forty million Ink Stones.
Linley then purchased two Lightning Element and Destruction Element long-saber-class offensive High-level God Artifacts, three armor-class defensive High-level God Artifacts, one hundred Soul Gold Beads, two metal lives, some God Crystals, and a number of healing pills.
There were also books introducing the Lightning Element Law, the Four Major Rules, Hell's local customs, and the traits of countless races.
It cost a total of thirty-six million Ink Stones.
Linley spent money like water; the Ink Stones from selling resources earlier simply could not withstand this kind of extravagant efficiency.
Fortunately, Camila and Claude's Space Rings still held massive amounts of Blue Stones and Ink Stones. Their accumulated wealth of many years had all become wedding garments for Linley, or else he really would not have been able to sustain this scale of spending.
The three of them left Blood Peak Castle, first going to inspect the purchased houses and allocate rooms. He left his Sanctuary True Body and Destruction Element Low-level God avatar behind to cultivate.
His Lightning Element Mid-level God avatar, along with Thomas and Corey, left the city.
They arrived at an open space.
Linley flipped his hand, taking out the metal life. Like silver soft clay, it rapidly deformed, leaping into the high air and transforming into a rhombus-shaped airship.
Under the envious and awe-struck gazes of many God-level beings queuing to enter the city, the three of them quickly stepped inside.
Linley dropped a God Crystal into the console, and the metal life immediately started up, soaring into the clouds and vanishing into the horizon in the blink of an eye.
