Background / History

Xiao Yao was born with Ghost Fox bloodline power that continuously consumed her body, leaving her frail enough that she was not expected to survive a winter. Her father, Ji Qiuli, exhausted himself trying to save her: he employed ninety-nine secret methods, traded three years of his lifespan, and ultimately separated her unstable bloodline power into a Demon Core. This made her the first known half-demon whose life-threatening condition had been resolved in this way 163 193.

Before his death, Ji Qiuli erased Xiao Yao's memories of himself and her mother, then entrusted her to Lin Xiaoqi and asked Lu Yibai to cleanse her body and bloodline when needed 162. Lu and Lin completed the procedures to adopt her and brought her to the Answer Bar, where she initially remembered only her name and quickly became attached to Lu Yibai 164.

Lu Yibai's green life force gradually restored her health. Her Demon Core also began to accumulate demonic energy naturally, even before she knew how to cultivate 165.
