Multiverse: A Journey Through Worlds Beginning with the Supreme Sovereign, by Zhu Zhiyue
In Zoroastrianism, the Mother of Evil Gods was the source of all sin and darkness!
Legend had it that she created the Six Great Devils: "Malice," "Chaos," "Aging," "Treason," "Weakness," and "Destruction"!
Having obtained the divinity of the Mother of Evil Gods in Little Garden, Saigō became an 'Overlord' in Overlord;
Looking at the Ruler of Death, Witch of the Void, Archon of Teyvat, Great Yokai of Gensokyo, Devil of DxD, Creator of Demon Pillars, and the others around him;
Saigō was certain that he had firmly earned the title of 'Evil God';
Since that was the case, he would shout that line at the top of his lungs—God is Dead!
Prologue: Third Perpetual Mechanism
Little Garden World, Earth, inside a secret laboratory—
"Dr. Saigo, preparations for the Third Star Particle experiment have been completed. Shall we begin the experiment now?"
A researcher in a white lab coat looked nervously at the bearded man before him, who was also wearing a white lab coat and was nearly thirty years old.
The researcher's eyes were filled with admiration, while deep within them lay barely concealed fanaticism and excitement.
Those overly intense emotions made it difficult for him to control himself, even causing his breathing to grow hurried.
Though Dr. Saigo was still young, he was a world-renowned energy research expert. He yearned to develop new energy sources and change humanity's fate.
After all, wars between humans were struggles over resources.
However, the resources humanity could control were limited. In order to claim a larger share of the pie, people naturally fought and competed with one another.
And what that 'competition' brought was slaughter and war.
Theoretically, the simplest way to change humanity's war-filled history and its inherent flaws was to make the pie bigger.
Developing new energy was humanity's most urgent task in this era.
Otherwise, Earth's resources would eventually be exhausted, and that would also be the day humanity perished.
It was precisely with such passion and unwavering conviction to change humanity's fate that Dr. Saigo had set foot on this path of no return.
Yet developing new energy was hardly such a simple matter.
Even with funding from major international organizations, Dr. Saigo's research had made no progress over the years.
However, one of Dr. Saigo's new discoveries was enough to change the entirety of Human History.
Dr. Saigo looked toward a glass container not far from him. Hope, hesitation, and fear filled his expression.
Floating within that glass container was a thread as beautiful and dazzling as starlight.
The Third Star Particle was the name of that beautiful thread, a name Dr. Saigo had given it himself.
This substance—or perhaps it was not a substance at all—could not be analyzed with current human technology.
Dr. Saigo had discovered it by accident.
Although he could not fully analyze it, his research had revealed the 'Infinite Energy' contained within it.
Upon making that discovery, Dr. Saigo had been overwhelmed with joy, believing it to be nature's greatest gift to humanity.
If this 'Star Particle' could be mass-produced, or if more of them could be found, would that not fulfill humanity's limitless demand for energy through another method?
Unfortunately, Dr. Saigo had never found another Star Particle.
It was not man-made, nor was it created by gods. Dr. Saigo had even absurdly believed that this Star Particle had been born in accordance with Heavenly Principles.
The three Star Particles before him were all The Original, as well as the only three in the world.
Even if more Star Particles could not be found, the research could not stop.
Led by Dr. Saigo, the research team began studying these three Originals within this secret laboratory.
But the results were far from ideal. None of humanity's available technology could affect the Star Particles.
After an unknown number of careful experiments, the research team finally discovered that the Star Particles merely reacted to humans.
And they only reacted to an extremely small number of humans.
If they could not be put to use, then even if the Star Particles contained infinite energy, they would have little meaning.
Now that every research method had proven ineffective, Dr. Saigo finally made a mad decision—
Since it only reacted to humans, they would inject it into a human body and conduct a direct human experiment!
This was a decision that completely violated human morality. Especially for the first test subject, as there was no experimental data whatsoever; even the results and chances of success could not be calculated.
But even so, for the sake of 'saving' humanity's future and great cause, Dr. Saigo still made up his mind.
Inside another container in the laboratory, connected to the Star Particle, was an infant who had not yet grown up.
A trace of reluctance flashed through Dr. Saigo's eyes as he looked at the infant, because that child was his Eldest Son.
It was not that Dr. Saigo was so righteous that he refused to sacrifice others and instead used his own child as a test subject.
It was simply that his two children had the highest compatibility rates with the Star Particles.
Under such circumstances, his Eldest Son naturally became the first test subject.
Perhaps unable to bear it, or perhaps overwhelmed by panic and fear, Dr. Saigo withdrew his gaze.
Looking around and talking about something else, as though using this method to distract himself, he rambled to his wife beside him:
"...After the First Law of Thermodynamics was established, people came to understand that energy could not be created from nothing."
"Thus, someone proposed designing a kind of device that would draw thermal energy from the oceans, atmosphere, or even the universe, using that heat as the source to drive a perpetual motion machine and generate output."
"...This was the Second Kind Perpetual Motion Machine!"
"However, after the German Rudolf Clausius and the Briton Kelvin studied the Carnot Cycle and the First Law of Thermodynamics, they proposed the Second Law of Thermodynamics."
"...The birth of this law completely sentenced the Second Kind Perpetual Motion Machine to death!"
Dr. Saigo took a deep breath and continued, "...In 1871, the British physicist James Maxwell proposed the hypothetical demon known as Maxwell's Demon."
"...Maxwell's Demon was conceived to explore the possibility of violating the Second Law of Thermodynamics."
"However, in 1981, Bennett's paper pointed out that the dissipative process in which Maxwell's Demon controlled a 'door' to let molecules move from one compartment to another did not occur during measurement."
"...This turned Maxwell's Demon into a paradox, thereby refuting the theory."
Dr. Saigo clenched his fists and suddenly shouted, "...But the Star Particle is different! It possesses physical properties that we modern humans cannot comprehend."
"...It can truly achieve the possibility of a 'perpetual motion machine,' crossing the Second Law of Thermodynamics in a manner beyond understanding!"
"That is why I named it the Third Star Particle. And if it can be used to create a perpetual motion machine, it will be a Third Kind Perpetual Motion Machine—the Third Perpetual Mechanism!"
"...This will be an achievement and undertaking never before seen in human history!"
After speaking those words in a tone filled with obsession and fervor, Dr. Saigo slumped once more.
Madame Saigo, standing beside him with tears streaming down her face, tightly held her husband's hand and merely shook her head gently.
At last, Dr. Saigo took a deep breath and gave the order. "...Begin the experiment!"
"Yes, Director!"
Upon hearing the command, the researcher pressed a button on the control panel.
The experiment had long since been programmed, and the only required step was pressing a button.
As the machinery started up, the Star Particle inside the container was injected into the child's body beneath the watchful eyes of many people, some fanatical and some unable to bear it.
"How are the test subject's vitals?"
Dr. Saigo asked loudly and nervously.
"All vital signs are normal. The Star Particle is merging with the Eldest Son. The merging process is proceeding very smoothly."
Hearing the researcher's report, Dr. Saigo relaxed slightly.
But at that moment, the researcher's voice suddenly became tense as he cried out, "...Oh no! There's an error in the data. The cause is unknown!"
As soon as the researcher's words fell, the infant's body inside the container cracked apart inch by inch before everyone's eyes, turning into an unbelievable starlight that vanished.
At the sight of this, Madame Saigo finally collapsed to the floor and burst into tears.
Dr. Saigo's face turned deathly pale. His body swayed as he said weakly to the researcher, "...Save the important experimental data."
After saying that, he crouched down. After hesitating for a long while, he patted his wife's shoulder and said bitterly, "...We still have Izayoi."
Mother of Evil Gods
Saigō was completely dumbfounded now.
Once an ordinary person who had grown up in that ancient country, he had transmigrated into this seemingly similar yet different Earth without even realizing it, becoming an infant.
The original Saigō had also been called Saigō, with Sa as his surname and Gō as his given name.
Even in that ancient country, it was already a rather rare surname.
According to Saigō's former parents, his ancestors had originally borne the surname Zhang and were relatives of Empress Zhang, wife of the Hongzhi Emperor.
Relying on their status as imperial relatives, they had habitually bullied others and run rampant through the countryside.
After Empress Zhang died, Old Zhu Family ordered their execution. Their descendants fled in all directions, eventually forming the four surnames East, South, West, and North according to the directions in which they escaped.
Saigō had no interest in his ancestors' former splendor. Besides, his family seemed never to have been particularly prosperous. Apart from being related to Empress Zhang, they were essentially descendants of criminals.
Saigō had read many transmigration novels, so he was not particularly surprised by transmigrating.
The only difference between him and some transmigrators was that he felt no excitement over it. Instead, he was rather annoyed.
The original Saigō could be considered successful. Before turning thirty, he had achieved modest success, bought a car and a house through his own efforts, and surpassed the vast majority of his peers.
And this Earth after his transmigration was similar yet different. Who knew whether the memories in his mind would still be useful on Earth in this different time and space?
The fruits of so many years of hard work had gone down the drain, and everything had to begin again. Anyone would have been annoyed by that.
The slight consolation was that living another life was equivalent to living more than twenty additional years. That was at least the greatest comfort.
However, that annoyance quickly vanished. When Saigō discovered this world's true nature, shock and exhilaration occupied his entire body and mind.
This world was actually the world of Problem Children!
The former Saigō had also been a 2D enthusiast who liked anime, though after becoming busy with his career, he gradually lost interest in such things.
The anime he had watched were all from that earlier era, and he knew little about newer series.
Problem Children happened to be one of the works he had watched.
Although he had only watched the anime and did not fully understand the story's development, he still knew the basic world setting and premise.
At the very least, Saigō knew who the protagonist of this work was: his foolish younger brother—Saigo Izayoi!
In this world of gods and Buddhas, immortals and saints, everything took on countless forms, and life was naturally colorful and magnificent.
At the very least, after learning that his younger brother was the protagonist, Saigō had completely adopted the mindset of taking it easy and lying flat.
No matter what, this life of his should be more exciting than the last.
If he could also obtain abilities beyond mortal reason, that would be something unimaginable and longed for in his previous life.
As for making a name for himself, Saigō had hardly thought about it.
Only after transmigrating did he understand just how dangerous this world full of Asura Gods and Buddhas was.
Surely, for anyone with normal intelligence who came to such a world and discovered that they were an ordinary person, their first thought would absolutely be how to survive.
So there was nothing wrong with lying flat and slacking off. As an ordinary person, he could not concern himself with the affairs of those Asura Gods and Buddhas anyway.
But all of that vanished into thin air during the Star Particle experiment.
When that dazzling thread of starlight entered Saigō's body, pain sufficient to tear apart both soul and flesh swept through every part of him.
Saigō's vision immediately went black, and he lost all consciousness.
Yet Saigō knew that he had not died. Instead, he had arrived in this strange and inexplicable darkness.
It was dark and deathly silent here. No living creature could be found, and he could not even sense the concepts of time or space.
The only thing Saigō's consciousness could feel here was an emotion like that felt at the beginning of life's birth, along with an indescribable heartbeat.
