"...Not long ago, the three of us met. Worried that you might use the Night Lord of Blazing Light's power without restraint, Kii suggested that one of us True Vampires become your watcher..."
"And I volunteered to come."
Jada truly seemed indifferent to everything in this world, as though her only purpose in living was to seek amusement.
She had actually told Saigō outright about what the three True Vampires had plotted.
It was impossible to tell whether she was simply that frank, or whether she hoped that, after learning of the other two True Vampires' intentions, Saigō would develop even greater conflicts with them.
Conflict would bring struggle, and struggle would bring greater chaos.
Saigō felt that the latter was probably Jada's true intention.
From his brief contact with this Third True Ancestor, Saigō had long seen through her nature. She was simply someone who lived for amusement and feared nothing more than a peaceful world.
Jada then looked at Aurora, who was curled up beside Saigō, looking listless as she hid behind him. Smiling brightly, she said,
"...A single vessel of the Night Lord of Blazing Light cannot truly and completely wield a Familiar's power."
"The reason you recalled the Twelfth Familiar just now was because that vessel's body could no longer continue bearing the power of the Crimson Ice of the Demon Princess, wasn't it?"
"...To completely master the Night Lord of Blazing Light's power, you must gather all twelve vessels and use the Feast of Blazing Light to complete the final ritual."
"A triangle is the most stable structure. So long as the three of us True Vampires exist, no major disorder will arise."
"But if someone obtains the Night Lord of Blazing Light's power, that triangle will be broken."
"...So, how about joining forces with me, Zarathustra? Unlike the other two True Vampires, I have been tormented to the verge of madness. I am about to forget the mission I promised that person I would fulfill."
"I can give you the Night Lord of Blazing Light vessels under my care. I can tell you where the other vessels are, and even tell you what Familiars truly are, and why we True Vampires came to exist."
"...Once you know that, you will understand why Kii and Aswardgull want to keep you under surveillance."
"I am inviting you not as a watcher inviting the watched, but as an ally."
"...The long years have driven me nearly mad and made me forget my mission. I have already... had enough of this unchanging world!"
Jada's voice grew softer. Her wild expression gradually faded, and a trace of sorrow appeared on her beautiful, untamed face.
A True Vampire's Real Job Was Being a Madam?
Space twisted, and from within the distortion emerged a petite woman as exquisite as a doll, clad in a black lace Lolita dress and holding a parasol.
Nangong Nayue stepped onto the ruined ground beneath her feet. Her small head turned from side to side, and her childish face bore a seriousness utterly at odds with her appearance.
After searching around and failing to find the person she sought, Nangong Nayue's expression darkened. A hint of anxiety appeared on her delicate, doll-like face.
She hurriedly searched the surroundings once more with her parasol in hand, then irritably stamped her foot.
Just then, her crystalline earring trembled slightly. She immediately reined in her agitation and returned to her calm expression, looking serene and unruffled, as though everything was under control.
She had no desire to reveal her current flustered and helpless state to anyone else.
"Miss Nangong!"
La Folia drove a car rapidly toward the area.
The vehicle jolted through the uneven ruins. Only after spotting Nangong Nayue did La Folia stop the car and walk over, her expression somewhat panicked.
No matter how gifted she was, no matter how early she had displayed her talent in international politics, La Folia was still only a fourteen- or fifteen-year-old girl. Faced with such a sudden catastrophe, even she found herself at a loss.
Yet upon seeing Nangong Nayue's composed demeanor, La Folia's racing heart calmed somewhat, and she struggled to drive the fear from her mind with reason.
"Miss Nangong, what happened here? Where is Mr. Zarathustra?"
Like Nangong Nayue, La Folia scanned the surroundings after arriving. When she failed to see Saigō, her heart skipped a beat, and she hurriedly asked.
"I only arrived here moments ago. I have not seen that demon either."
"...The magical power fluctuations here were far too intense before. Even I did not dare rashly enter the battlefield."
"Only after the magical power fluctuations had completely settled did I use Space Control magic to come take a look. I arrived only a little earlier than you."
Nangong Nayue explained to La Folia in her childish, slightly unclear voice.
"Yes, the magical power fluctuations in this area were enormous just now. It was like the core reactor of a Spirit Furnace."
La Folia spoke with lingering fear as her gaze swept over the area. Being intimately familiar with the royal capital, she knew that this region had once been mountainous.
Though the mountains had only been a range a few hundred meters high at most, they had now all been shattered.
Apart from the countless rocks scattered across the ground and the pitted remnants of mountains barely recognizable as such, no one could imagine what the terrain had looked like before.
Whenever La Folia recalled the icy wind that had swept through the outskirts as she sat in the car not long ago, the flashing lightning, the pillars of fire shooting into the sky, and the intermittent explosions of magical power, her heart would still tremble.
She had never imagined that an individual's combat strength could reach the scale of war.
In La Folia's opinion, causing such devastation would require at least the firepower of an entire army.
"Do you know who was fighting Zarathustra?"
Nangong Nayue asked quietly.
She had some guesses, but none were necessarily accurate.
"It was the Third True Ancestor, Jada Kukulkan, the Chaos Princess!"
La Folia's expression became solemn. "...When the battle broke out, I had the Kingdom's intelligence division investigate. In the end, we discovered that the Third True Ancestor had entered the Kingdom's borders at some unknown time."
"The princess of the mysterious Central American Night Empire, the Chaos Territory?"
Nangong Nayue furrowed her delicate brows. She had guessed that one of the True Vampires had fought Saigō, but she had not expected it to be the True Vampire from Central America, the farthest from the Kingdom.
She had assumed it would be the First True Ancestor or the Second True Ancestor.
The First True Ancestor was the one the world knew best. He was relatively active, and even the Sanctuary Treaty had been signed under his leadership.
Though the Second True Ancestor was rarely seen, his Night Empire remained open to the outside world. Anyone could travel there and experience the exotic atmosphere of the Middle East.
Only Central America's Chaos Territory was different. That nation was completely isolated, and entering it was extraordinarily difficult.
Naturally, the outside world knew even less about this Chaos Princess.
"It was indeed the most mysterious Third True Ancestor. By examining ancient records, we found that the Familiars that appeared during the battle also matched the characteristics of the Third True Ancestor's Familiars."
"...As for why the Third True Ancestor came here to find Mr. Zarathustra, I believe it must be related to the Night Lord of Blazing Light."
La Folia said gravely.
"Yes, I guessed as much. It seems the Night Lord of Blazing Light is more mysterious than we imagined. This Fourth True Ancestor must possess secrets and a past unknown to us."
"...How severe were the Kingdom's losses?"
Nangong Nayue asked.
La Folia gave a bitter smile. "...The exact figures have not yet been determined. Fortunately, the battle broke out near the outskirts of the royal capital."
"...The fighting then shifted outward, beyond the city. Casualties are probably around ten thousand, though the specific economic losses still need to be calculated."
"Everyone in the royal capital witnessed this battle. The entire capital is in a state of panic now. My father and mother are calming the people."
"...Miss Nangong, what was the outcome of Mr. Zarathustra's battle with the Third True Ancestor?"
La Folia asked anxiously at last.
"I do not know."
Nangong Nayue shook her head. "...I have not seen either of them since arriving here. However, Zarathustra should be fine."
"...He has a contract with me. Since the contract between us remains intact, it means he is unharmed."
"Your Highness, why are you so concerned about a demon?"
The Witch of the Void scrutinized the princess before her.
La Folia's expression did not change. She smiled elegantly. "...Mr. Zarathustra is extraordinarily knowledgeable and wise. Whenever I discuss certain matters with him, I can always find answers. He is practically my teacher."
"...Naturally, a student worries about her teacher. What about you, Miss Nangong? Why are you so worried?"
At La Folia's question, Nangong Nayue snorted. "...He is the demon bound by my contract. If something happened to him, would I not lose the power I obtained by selling my soul?"
The two understood each other without speaking and said no more.
On the seabed of the Baltic Sea, a massive submarine sat quietly.
Within one of the submarine's luxuriously decorated rooms, its walls adorned with wool tapestries, Saigō and Jada sat facing one another.
The Third True Ancestor appeared to have just bathed and changed clothes. Her body was still damp, and the alluring scent of a fresh bath permeated the air around her.
No lights were on in the room. Only several candles burned, their gently flickering flames casting the two figures in and out of view. Their long shadows stretched into the distance, bringing with them an overwhelming sense of pressure.
The Third True Ancestor clapped her hands. The door opened, and two female vampires entered, both dressed in exotic attire like Jada and blessed with excellent figures.
Beside the two vampires stood several petite girls who looked exactly like Aurora.
They were the Night Lord of Blazing Light's vessels under Jada's care!
Yet Saigō found the scene rather strange. Why did it feel so much like he had gone to a brothel, where the madam was bringing out the girls to receive a customer and let him choose?
Could it be that a True Vampire's real job was actually being a madam?
The Third True Ancestor, the Demon's Plaything
Saigō calmly watched the Night Lord of Blazing Light vessels brought in by the two female vampires.
They were two beautiful girls identical to Aurora, with no difference in either appearance or figure, like replicas of one another.
They possessed the same gorgeous rainbow-colored hair and Flame Light Eyes. Even their clothing was exactly the same as when Saigō had first met Aurora: simple slip dresses.
Within the dimly lit room, the snow-white shoulders and collarbones exposed by the two girls radiated a hazy allure that made one want to pull them into one's arms and cherish them dearly.
The only difference from Aurora was that these two girls wore cold expressions, like genuine dolls.
Upon seeing her two elder sisters, Aurora grew excited and wanted to go reunite with them.
However, after glancing at Jada, Aurora fearfully retreated to Saigō's side and hid behind him.
Aurora clutched Saigō's sleeve with her tiny pale hands, cautiously peeking out her little head as she stared at her two elder sisters.
Saigō remained calm. He merely picked up the red wine from the dining table before him and swirled it. After taking a light sip, he turned his gaze to Jada and waited for her explanation.
"These are the Sixth Vessel of the Night Lord of Blazing Light, Hektos, and the Seventh Vessel, Hebdomos. They have only codenames, not names like the Twelfth Vessel beside you, whom you named Aurora."
As if understanding Saigō's meaning, Jada lazily leaned against her chair, crossing one long, beautiful leg over the other as she introduced the two Night Lords of Blazing Light to him.
"The Familiars sealed within them are the Rainbow Flame of the Underworld Princess and the Black Sword of Yama. As for what abilities these two Familiars possess, you can discover that for yourself later."
"...I originally also had the Tenth Vessel, Dekatos, but I let that little one go."
Jada introduced the basic information about these vessels to Saigō, even telling him the names of their Familiars.
"You let her go?"
Saigō asked with interest.
"Yes, I let her go. Like the Twelfth Vessel by your side, the Tenth Vessel possesses a very strong sense of self. Her personality is quite unusual, completely unlike her sisters."
Jada examined Aurora's elder sisters as if inspecting merchandise. To her, these Night Lord of Blazing Light vessels truly were merchandise.
All twelve vessels had been manufactured. As tools, their sole mission was to temporarily seal the Fourth True Ancestor's Familiars until the Fourth True Ancestor was born.
"When I discovered that the Tenth Vessel had her own personality and thoughts, I found it interesting. You know, it has been a long time since I felt anything interesting."
"...The Tenth Vessel expressed her wish to leave, and I agreed. Consider it payment for amusing me."
"But you need not worry. Even though she possesses strong will and personality, she will not forget her mission."
"...When the Feast of Blazing Light begins, she will naturally appear."
"Or, if you wish to find her in advance, I can tell you where she is now. The Tenth Vessel is currently with an organization called Abyss Trap."
"...You only need to investigate that organization to find her. You have a good relationship with the princess of the Kingdom of Aldegia. With the Kingdom's intelligence network, investigating an organization's movements will not be difficult."
"Or if you wish, I can find her for you."
Jada truly seemed to regard Saigō as her ally, as though he were her closest friend, helping him resolve every trouble in meticulous detail.
This was the Third True Ancestor's nature. She was now intensely interested in Saigō, and that interest made her feel alive.
In order to preserve that feeling, she was willing to do anything for Saigō, even become enemies with the other two True Vampires.
