Shade saves Grace and Helen from the God of Vampires, helps seal the Interstice, and returns to Tobesk with new powers and unresolved ties. He reunites Leisha and Dorothy, speaks with Sparrow Hamilton in the Soul Cemetery, and promises Luvia he will not let go of her.

• Shade rescued Grace and Helen from the God of Vampires, ascended as a god, and defeated him in a duel at Sikar Mountain.
• Shade guided the departed souls along the Shattered Light Path, then used a Miracle to keep Grace and Helen from leaving and learned the story of the Red Butterfly Twins.
• Shade and Iluna helped defeat the Undead Behemoth and seal the Interstice beneath a giant tree on Sikar Mountain.
• Shade returned to Tobesk, discovered the Soul Cemetery beneath his home, and used it to meet Sparrow Hamilton, who forgave him and urged him to choose his own path.
• Shade gave Leisha the Crimson Butterfly, enabling her and Dorothy to spend a day together, and helped the two women reunite.
• Shade planted a Lyon Orchid seed by Sparrow’s grave and gained a new power as he reflected on the end of all things.
• Shade learned that Dorothy and Leisha’s souls were gradually mingling, then promised Luvia he would not let go of anyone’s hand, especially hers.

Shade helped Iluna return from Middlesburg, took on new duties for the King, and pursued clues about divinity and Time Perception. His search led him to Huntington, where he met Armand Bernhardt and arranged an introduction to Princess Margaret Anjou.

• Iluna returned from Middlesburg with a second Space Movement landmark, a new Spirit Rune, and news that her four-ring runes formed the Words of Sublimation.
• Shade visited the recovering Grace and Helen, received the dangerous Blasphemy Cross from Grandma Cassandra, and agreed to help Sister Devlin investigate ways to delay Doomsday.
• Shade met Larus III, who tasked him with identifying whom Margaret Anjou contacted in Tobesk, while Mr. Edmund offered him information about Time Perception in exchange for copying pages from the Elixir of Immortality.
• Shade bought a White Stone Crystal and used it to discover a hidden space that led through a wine cellar into the Anjou family’s White River Valley Vineyard.
• Shade met Armand Bernhardt at the vineyard, traveled with him to Huntington, and learned about the Lake Fairy legend and the Pantanal Voodoo Society.
• Shade supplied wine for Princess Margaret, who praised it and requested a meeting, so Shade entered her private lounge disguised as Sherlock Holmes.

Shade investigated Earl Sachia’s murder, pursued the Goddess in the Lake legends, and attended Princess Margaret’s farewell banquet, where The Truth Society attacked her. After taking the Dark Black Thunder head-on, Shade found clues to two sources of divinity and traveled through the fog door to the end of the Fifth Epoch.

• Shade and Mr. Bernhardt investigated Earl Sachia’s poisoning, and Emma Sylvia captured the suspected murderer, Poison Ivy Magis.
• Shade met Miss Sylvia and Professor Kansas Drake, learned about the cursed Swamp Witch photograph, and was freed from its curse by Sylvia.
• At Rothschild Manor, Shade learned that the Elixir of Immortality contained a Poem Chapter Fragment and helped Princess Margaret interpret Leisha’s note about Gray-headed Eagle.
• Shade won Margaret’s earrings in a blindfolded coin-toss game, danced with her, and then fought a Pantanal Voodoo Society Arcanist who became a giant Black Snake.
• Shade entered the Pantanal Temple hidden in a painting, burned its idol, and learned that The Truth Society had sought the possible location of the Heart of Pantanal.
• The Truth Society attacked Princess Margaret on the rooftop, and Shade leaped into Wrath of Fury’s storm to meet the Dark Black Thunder.
• Shade survived the thunder and learned Wrath of Fury likely held divinity belonging to Raging Storm, then told Luvia he wanted both sources of divinity.
• Luvia divined that Karl Leipzig would travel to Tobesk, and Shade entered the fog door to the year 5177 at the end of the Fifth Epoch.

Shade pursued the Goddess in the Lake, learned that visitors had to prove themselves through trials, and helped John Roland recover the Luck he had traded for a poem. After preparing a mathematics paper, Shade joined the wedding celebrations at Lake View Manor, where a relic was expected to emerge from Schluch Lake that night.

• Shade crossed Lost Lake with help from Violet Marshall’s group, met the Witch Emperor and Schultz Teresa, and joined them in seeking the God of the Lake’s wisdom.
• Shade and the Witches faced the god’s pressure in its tower, where the god demanded Crystallizations of Wisdom as the first of three trials.
• Shade investigated Professor Drake’s past encounters and found Lucky Roland, who described trading a poem to the Goddess in the Lake for extraordinary Luck.
• Shade visited Lake Heart Island, met Lady Cherub, and accepted a trial requiring him to prove his Wisdom, strength, and charm at a wedding banquet.
• Shade gave Princess Margaret Anjou an emerald during her arrival in Tobesk, while Miss Galina briefed him on the princess’s mission and the succession struggle.
• Shade prepared a mathematics paper and arranged for Grace and Helen to visit Tobesk after winter began, then joined Dorothy and Leisha at Mona Cavendish’s wedding.
• Shade attended the wedding and banquet, met Princess Angelina and Miss Sylvia, and agreed to a cycling race while Miss Sylvia offered to review his paper.
• Miss Sylvia and Miss Galina told Shade that a location-type relic was expected to appear in Schluch Lake between eight and ten that night, and Shade spotted Princess Angelina beneath the sunset.
