His body passed through the curtain, and he immediately heard the patter of rain. Yet he could not feel any raindrops falling on him.
The art gallery had been lit only by dim lights just now, but the lights here were bright enough to sting his eyes. Shade and Fiona both squinted instinctively before realizing that they had not appeared on a street at all, but high up on some building.
"A terrace?"
Looking behind them, they saw the city beneath the rainy night. Only a few buildings and streets were still lit. Strange figures prowled through the darkness of the city. Some enormous, giant-like creatures even walked among the buildings, yet none of their movements made a sound.
Their luck was actually quite good. They had not encountered the most troublesome enemies.
Their current location appeared to be the rooftop terrace of an immense palace constructed from obsidian. The terrace was quite large and semicircular. The curved side was lined with railings, while the straight side consisted of a wall and tightly shut double metal doors.
There was a lamp in each corner of the terrace. Their light resembled the most brilliant sunset before nightfall, illuminating the area. The two metal doors bore images of a twilight sunset and a sky full of stars respectively. On the door depicting the sunset, Ancient Writings had been inscribed:
Twilight Place
"Twilight Place. So if we push open that door, it will be night."
Shade spoke softly, and Fiona nodded nervously.
"Yes, the final destination should be beyond that door."
"I can't sense the Great One's power."
As he spoke, Shade glanced at his own hand and saw no trace of God's Radiance.
