The rain had continued without end. Though it was already early Tuesday morning, the air felt unbearably oppressive.
At Rose Manor on the north shore of Green Lake, where Miss Galina was staying, Angelina was washing up and applying makeup before a dressing table formed from three large mirrors, assisted by the maids. It was then that she overheard them discussing the previous night.
Angelina had gone to bed early the night before, as was her habit. The little Princess still believed this could help her grow taller and develop a better figure, even though she was already seventeen. The maids, unable to rest early because of their work, had all noticed something strange in the sky the night before:
"It didn't rain last night, but the clouds were very thick. And they were strange, like there were lots of people walking around inside them."
Angelina's ear twitched.
"Kyla, was anything happening in the city last night?"
"Your Highness, we heard that the city had originally planned to impose martial law last night, but for some reason it was never carried out."
The tall maid answered. Angelina immediately knew that something unusual really had happened the night before, though it had apparently already been resolved.
"Oh, Your Highness, there's more news. Someone said that at around ten last night, they saw the shadow of an Angel appear above the city."
The maid behind Angelina, who was brushing her hair, added this. The little Princess in the mirror thought about it, yet still could not understand what happened. But in any case, everything outside was fine now, so it did not matter what had happened the night before.
