The nun erased the traces of thaumaturgy from the room, followed Shade out the door, and then walked back into the rain at his side.
She was right beside Shade. It took him at least ten steps before he suddenly realized that Sister Devlin was not holding an umbrella, but standing beneath the same one as him.
He turned his head slightly, only to find that Sister Devlin had turned at exactly the same moment. Behind the intricate patterns on her Silver Eye Patch were the nun's unusual eyes. At that moment, he truly felt that intense gaze. So Shade said nothing and simply walked with the blind nun into the night, beneath the dim glow of the streetlamps on that rainy evening.
The night was thick, and the fractures in the sky became increasingly distinct. March was hidden behind dark clouds. Today truly was not good weather.
Though they had gone out to contain a relic, Shade and the nun had not spent much time on it. When they pushed open the door to the Green Lake Inn, it was only nine o'clock. Dinner had already ended, so there were naturally no guests on the 1st Floor. However, Miss Galina and Luvia were both there, seated at a table against the wall and talking about something.
They both saw Shade arrive with the nun. The sharp-eyed ladies easily noticed that one umbrella was dripping with rainwater, while the other bore only a few droplets. The two exchanged glances, each seeing the surprise in the other's eyes, but neither said anything.
After Sister Devlin bid Shade farewell, she headed for the stairs, while Shade walked toward Miss Galina and Luvia by the wall:
"Why are you two still awake so late?"
"We're still discussing tomorrow's matters."
