March was full, the Milky Way hung upside down, and atop the small altar on Lake Heart Island, two Eleventh Ring Destiny Rings flickering with strange light appeared behind the two women before merging into one. A massive Eleventh Rank Golden Stairway extended step by step upward from behind them, passing through the Destiny Ring and leading to the higher place among the stars.
Under the moonlit night, the sounds of drums and flutes came from nowhere in particular. The drums were indistinct, but the flute was especially distant and lingering. The stars in the sky were brighter than Shade had ever seen on any night, while the three enormous moons seemed ready to fall to the ground.
The wind celebrated for them, and the land beneath their feet rejoiced at another advance by the Child of Edwardz. The young ladies holding hands raised their heads slightly. Though Shade could not see their faces, he believed they had closed their eyes.
The Stone Pillars surrounding the altar emitted dim golden light, while the Ritual Matrix beneath their feet, formed around the holy emblem of the Chaos Witch, gathered all that light upon them.
Then, silently, the rotating Destiny Ring became illusory and vanished into the steam mist. When it solidified again, it had already reached the Twelfth Ring. At the summit of the Eleventh Rank Golden Staircase, new steps extended higher. The phantom stairs slowly became solid as though absorbing starlight, representing that they had touched the scenery of the higher place.
The late-spring breeze was gentle, and the Milky Way and Moon seemed to rejoice for them as well. The light withdrew into their bodies. They needed no one's applause; this silent transformation represented how their strange twin souls had attained the most perfect form most suited to this
