"It was Friday, the 30th of the Month of Rain Prayer, 6:13 in the morning."
Shade calculated the time in his heart, then spread his arms. Amid Helen's laughter, the pair of Red Butterflies transformed into young ladies in black and white dresses and dropped onto the bed.
They were not very heavy, but the vibration of the bed from their landing still made Little Mia, who had been crouching there, seem to fly upward from the mattress. The cat was clearly in a bad mood, but fortunately, this bed had been replaced after a certain "incident" in the past. It was sturdy and durable now, and would not collapse again.
"Good morning, Grace, Helen."
The butterflies gave Shade no chance to say hello. Helen wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, while Grace told her younger sister to be a little more reserved even as she invited Shade to have breakfast at the Cassandra Auction House later.
"Good morning, sir. Breakfast will probably be served at eight. We arrived at Middhir Fort Train Station last night."
Helen released Shade as well, a broad smile on her face.
"But sir, would you like some dessert before breakfast?"
Grace helplessly hugged her younger sister from behind, but she also smiled at Shade.
"Butterfly-flavored little treats. Two should be enough, right?"
The butterflies, reunited after a "long separation," displayed tremendous passion. As a result, Shade arrived at the Cassandra Auction House in Middlesburg at 8:10, holding Helen and Grace's hands with the displeased cat perched on his shoulder. Fortunately, they still made it in time for breakfast.
After breakfast, Shade spoke with Grandma Cassandra and the Red Butterfly Sisters about meeting Miss Feliana on wednesday. He also wanted them to help search for the Hope Diamond.
