Although he had shaken hands with her under the setting sun, indicating his willingness to cooperate with the Witches from now on, Shade still shook his head as he withdrew his hand:
"Sorry, I have my own business tonight as well. I don't know what you're worried about, but until I find that diamond, I probably won't give up on my activities in the Moon Bay Area."
At that, Shade sighed softly, wondering when the Hope Diamond would finally be found:
"Let's meet again at the appointed time. I'll keep the appointment. Although you have doubts about my identity, didn't Miss Vanessa at least acknowledge that I'm one of hers?"
The evening wind from the river channel brushed over the two standing face-to-face before the railing. The Witch's hair swayed behind her as she looked at the serious young man and nodded. Though countless questions filled her heart, she had not expected Shade to truly be willing to leave with her:
"All right. Today is Sunday. We'll meet again Monday morning. Ten o'clock in the morning. You choose the location."

Shade did not explain that he wanted to see the sunken ship's deck. Instead, he reminded her:
"The Seekers of Light Research Society still needs to be watched. Lady, please take care of your safety as well."
"That's what I should be telling you, Charlotte."
After pausing, she asked the man before her again:
"I don't want to call you 'Charlotte' anymore. What exactly is your name? Don't tell me it's Charlotte."
Her golden eyes stared at him as though they were about to glow. Shade smiled:
"John Watson. I'll still be using that name for a short period of time."
