"Didn't sleep well last night?"
On Sunday morning, in Spider Alley of Moon Bay City's Lower District, Shade yawned as he walked side by side with Mr. Bernhardt toward the morgue. The Bloodkin beside him asked with concern.
"No, I slept very well. I just had a strange dream. The beautiful Redhead Princess accepted an invitation to visit my dream. It really was quite a nice dream."
Shade offered a casual explanation before entering the corridor with Mr. Bernhardt.
Mr. Ptolemy Albert seemed to work in the morgue forever. Shade could always find him here whenever he came. But the three of them had arranged to meet this morning and exchange investigative information, so he was not performing an autopsy at the moment. Instead, he led the two of them into his office.
Compared to the damp, freezing morgue, filled with the smell of preservatives and corpses, the separately partitioned office was quite comfortable. Steam pipes ran through here as well, and Shade and Mr. Bernhardt both removed their coats. After sitting down, the three first complained about the snow from the day before yesterday, then began discussing what they had gained over the past week.
