As the Sun rose as usual, sunlight filtered through snowflakes and mist into the second-floor dining room at 6 Saint Derain Square. Shade, seated at the table, had no mind to consider last night's game with the young ladies.
He had not been awakened by Little Mia this early morning on Saturday. Twenty minutes ago, Miss Galina had arrived on the second floor with a group of maids, and he still had not forgotten the expression on her face when she eagerly pushed open the door and saw the scene in the bedroom.
"Shade, you had a pleasant night, didn't you?"
Shade, Dorothy, Luvia, and Miss Galina sat around the dining table. Naturally, it was the Red-haired Duchess who spoke. The maids were busy in the kitchen, while Dorothy, unlike Leisha, was still somewhat shy and pretended to read the newspaper.
Luvia glanced at Shade and helped him fend off the question:
"It was all right. Our knight has quite the experimental spirit. But in my view, Galina, if you had been there last night, Shade would probably have enjoyed himself even more."
The witch, who considered herself quite bold, blushed as well. The maids in the kitchen all kept straight faces, not daring to laugh for fear that the Head Maid, who was frying eggs by the stove, would punish them.
"Actually, if you had written me a letter, I..."
The Red-haired Witch muttered softly, then did not continue the topic. She was not angry about what had happened this morning; she merely wanted to make it clear that she could not possibly remain indifferent to it.
"How are things in Moon Bay? Was that gun useful?"
"It was."
Shade happened to want to discuss this matter with her as well.
"The memory was collected, but it is incomplete.
